16th century manor house
close to the Penthièvre coast
On the north coast of the Côtes-d’Armor region.
In a small commune of 1,500 inhabitants in the Penthièvre area.
Just over 3 miles from the beaches, 282 miles from Paris, 16 miles from an airport and 4hrs by TGV train.
Only a few minutes from the coast, outside of a village, on a site whose historic origins date back as far as the 12th century. Land of great lords and noble families, the manor house suffered historic unrest which resulted in it being burnt in reprisal during the Holy League War. Ever since then, successive families have continued to render this manor house its noble appearance and a splendour worthy of its rank.
The task is now complete; the current owners having restored individuality and beauty to a property that was ignored during the last century.
3.2 acres on which stand a manor house with approx. 4,521 sq ft of living space and an old renovated 807 sq ft mill.
The arch moulding of the main entrance to the principal dwelling is wonderful. The internal doors are original 16th century and the numerous period features inside (monumental fireplaces) and outside have preserved their authenticity. The roof was recently repaired under guidance from the French Historic Monument Association.
Numerous rooms, notably the main lounge still have extremely beautiful painted ceilings dating from the 16th century, adorned with the different coats-of-arms of the successive lords that resided in this property. The ground floor is divided into a main lounge, a ladies sitting room, a music room, a library, a dining room and a kitchen. On the first floor are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There are two bedrooms under the rafters and two bathrooms on the second floor. There is also an attic and a cellar.
The old renovated mill comprises three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shower room.
Medieval gardens to the rear of the manor house as well as the lake in front of it contribute to the peaceful atmosphere of the setting.
The outbuildings include a linen room, a garage, a stone 786 sq ft building and a dog kennel.
A piece of the region’s history was written here. Skilfully preserved, the property is much appreciated by its visitors. The owners have invested more than a reasonable amount of their passion and time and it shows. This peaceful and welcoming atmosphere is ideal for a family who like entertaining friends and guests who are passing through.
