Description

Built in the 14th and 15th centuries, this granite building stands in the centre of a vast esplanade surrounded by a moat fed by running water.
Extremely feudal in appearance, it comprises two rectangular units flanked by three round towers, two of which stand either side of the south-west gable and the third, against the façade, housing the stairway and the entrance.
Classified as a Historic Monument , both inside and out, it was almost in ruins when acquired by its present owners. Head over heels in love with the place, they courageously undertook its renovation.
Today, new roofs have given it back long lost pride and vigour. In 2001 the commendable, completed works were awarded the “Vieilles Maisons Françaises” grand prix and the Historic Dwelling “Belle demeure” Award.
Restoration of the inside is waiting to be continued (the beam system and part of the floors have been done). There will, then, be a total of 4,682 sq ft of living space divided into 15 rooms over three 1,561 sq ft stories.
Besides the beautiful stone spiral stairway and the chapel’s gothic ribbed vault, numerous period features await restoration: stone floor tiles, panelling, monumental fireplaces, etc.
Outbuildings:
Caretaker’s cottage converted into holiday accommodation: dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, mezzanine, shower room and toilet.
Former bread oven converted into holiday accommodation: 2 living rooms and an attic.

Our opinion
An extremely attractive, authentic, sound building despite its austere exterior.
Only genuine enthusiasts should come and visit as once seen it is difficult to forget.
A tremendous tool for providing tax benefit advantages, or pleasure to outweigh said benefits.
