Description

The property
An estate of over 17 acres in a rural, peaceful setting. The land is T-shaped, bordered to the north west by a small, fast-flowing river (a must for the former mill). It includes vast, unobstructed stretches as well as wooded areas that border the river and are to be found behind the buildings. Once fed by the river in order to fulfil its role as a mill, the main building no longer has water running through it, the millstream having been blocked.
The mill-farm
Built of stone, probably in the 17th century, on older foundations. It is a broad L-shaped building, flanked by two square towers. The thin loopholes in the facade bear witness to the former defensive character of the premises.
Spanning one floor above the ground level and topped by attic space which could, for the most part, be converted, the main building has a floor surface area of approx. 4,305 sq ft.
The current owners have carried out significant works since 2005.
The outbuildings
These are also ‘L-shaped’ and are set at right angles to the main building. They await renovation throughout. This total floor surface area of approx. 4,305 sq ft, divided equally over two stories, has numerous possibilities.

Our opinion

The beauty and the peace and quiet of the setting, disturbed solely by the noise of the river, are the major assets of the property. This building of sober construction with its attractive facade facing the courtyard is another. It has the advantage of being immediately habitable as the first floor contains all necessary home comforts, although a considerable surface area is still to be converted. The large outbuilding awaiting conversion could house holiday accommodation, horses, or even an artist’s studio: the new owners simply have to give free rein to their desires and the inspiration that will, without doubt, come from the premises themselves.
