Description

The property

In line with tradition, this property is situated not far from the church, in one of the village streets.
Its 2,000 m² (0.5 acre) garden surrounds the building. Tall forest trees stand on both sides of the grounds, preventing the dwelling from being overlooked and providing shade in the summer.
A small outbuilding, used for sheltering garden tools, stands on the edge of the property. These peaceful, restful premises are predestined to be a family home, either for weekend breaks or as a main residence. All the infrastructures are there to enable the owners to live in this village all year round. The old residences of this village cut quite a dash with their elegant half-timbered facades.

The presbytery History tells how this building was built in the 17th century for an aristocrat engaged to an African prince, and how the property was also built on fertile land which revealed its secret during the 1800’s when a local peasant is said to have unearthed hundreds of pieces of silverware with the base of his plough as he tilled his field
The nut-brown, half-timbered facades of the dwelling feature small-paned windows. Under the assembled half-timbering, it is possible to see the lower stone and flint sections with sandstone blocks holding up the support pillars of the construction.
The tile roof includes six Jacobin-style dormer windows arranged on either side of the north and south facing facades, which are covered in Virginia creeper from spring through until autumn.
This residence, spanning a surface area of 180 m² (1,937 sq ft), has three entrances and four bedrooms.

Our opinion

A superb setting near to the small church in a village where a respect for history has preserved the authenticity of the site.
The current owner has been able to put his expertise to good use in this building where the sobriety of the materials and the decoration do but increase its charm.
This village near to provincial towns, the French capital and the Normandy coast would suit a family looking to make it their holiday home or, given the nearby amenities, their main residence.
It is, moreover, a French department where tourist and cultural outings are inevitably the order of the day.
