South Finistère, in the Bay of Audierne, facing the sea, just a few minutes from a town of 4,000 inhabitants, approx. 30 km (19 miles) from Quimper, 4½ hours from Paris by TGV train.
Description
Facing the sea, in the heart of a hamlet, set in 1,450 m² (0.36 acres) of land partly enclosed by stone walls, this property consists of a house dating from between the wars and an adjoining early 19th century, steeply-pitched-slate-roofed cottage. As an extension of the main, slate-roofed dwelling, there is a possibility of rebuilding another house with a floor surface area of 140 m² (1,507 sq ft).
Spanning almost 200 m² (2,153 sq ft), the building comprises a kitchen and a back kitchen inside the steeply-pitched-slate-roofed cottage as well as a 15 m² (162 sq ft) mezzanine floor. Intercommunicating doors between the two buildings lead to a 50 m² (538 sq ft) lounge in the main house. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a bathroom and toilet with another bedroom and a study area under the rafters.
As regards outbuildings, there is a small stone shed in the middle of a garden which is divided to reduce the effects of the sea spray.
A double unit, air-air heat pump provides the heating; a 50 m (164 ft) deep borehole is used for watering the property.
Our opinion
A group of complimentary buildings in the peace and quiet of a small hamlet. The sea view and the direct access to the beach at the base of the cliffs on the Bay of Audierne are very real assets. This well-kept property is in need, however, of a few minor works, notably with regard to the attic.
