Small manor house in Lower Normandy,
in the heart of the Auge region

Location

This property, 1.25 miles from a village, just over 3 miles to the A28 motorway and a nearby town, 125 miles from Paris, 25 miles from Deauville and its airport, and 44 miles from Caen, is only 80 minutes from Paris Saint-Lazare station. Close to the Normandy coast, it is the ideal compromise between Normandy countryside and seaside whether as a main residence or a holiday home. Local infrastructures such as secondary schools, sixth form colleges, golf courses and horse riding centres are all up to family expectations.

Description

The property
The 3.71 acre enclosed parklands provides the setting for the manor house, and gives a panoramic view over the “Pays d’Auge” countryside.
The property comprises outbuildings as well as a dovecote that probably dates from the 17th century. This residence is set in absolute peace and quiet. Three loose boxes could accommodate horses.
The residence
This small manor house built late 18th, early 19th century was bought by a ribbon manufacturer in 1850.
Built in the traditional manner, it is made of stone, bricks and wood with a slate roof; beams, terracotta tiles, parquet flooring and period fireplaces have all been preserved inside.
The average-size rooms are well illuminated by the windows contained in the two facades of the building. The sobriety of the decoration makes it an extremely pleasant dwelling in which to live. The entire manor house has a completely unobstructed view over the “Pays d’Auge” countryside. 19th century fireplaces, wainscoting and floor tiles make it a warm and cosy dwelling.

Our opinion

A house that would make not only a nice home, given the proximity logistics, but also a holiday home in which to take refuge after long hikes or pony treks, etc.
The sober decoration reflects the personality of its owners and makes it possible to move in without anticipating any works.
