In the centre of a peaceful town in the French department of Aisne, just a few miles from Laon, less than 30 minutes from Soissons, Saint-Quentin and Reims and near to the A26 motorway.
On the edges of the Saint-Gobain forest, in a rural setting between plains, crops and woods.
Description
This character property from the 18th and 19th centuries is built of local stone, with a courtyard and walled garden of approx. 2,800 m² (0.69 acres).
Entry is via a small building for keeping carts, that opens on to a small barn with two other buildings, opposite and adjoining, in use as garages and separated by the entrance gates to the garden.
In the middle of the building stands a superb turret with a distinctive hexagonal roof and underneath the right wing of the house is an interesting collection of vaulted cellars and underground passageways.
Our opinion
A wonderful potential and a certain style for a vast country property, well situated in the centre of a town that is very easy to access by road. A house with some beautiful period features where authenticity has been preserved.
The outbuildings and the large garden are additional assets that should be taken into account.
