Louis XIII style castle and its outbuildings in the Seine-et-Marne
50 km (31 miles) south of Paris and 30 minutes by train. In the Seine-et-Marne, the least populated of the French departments in Ile de France despite covering almost half the region’s surface area. In the Brie Humide area, between the Fontainebleau Forest and the banks of the Seine. In 33,000 m² (8.15 acres) of walled parklands with entrance gates and driveways running between one hundred year old trees. On a gently sloping hill facing due south, thus giving the castle an unobstructed view.
The castle, contemporary of the arrival of the railway, the construction of a bridge across the Seine and a lock, is unquestionably Louis XIII in style. It is composed of imposing, robust 19th century buildings, 1878 to be exact, the architectural details of which were carefully and perfectly finished.
The slate roof features stone pediment roof dormers and wrought zinc bull’s eye windows. The brick walls are consolidated by stone toothed quoins and window frames.
The main building is flanked by 2 square wings with prominent features. A horse-shoe shaped stairway gives access to the central entrance, protected by a wrought iron canopy. All windows are without aprons, thus enabling light to fully penetrate the building.

Extremely successful restoration works where nothing has been forgotten. The modern techniques implemented were selected to preserve all the original decorative features. The choice of a metal construction to enclose the covered swimming pool blends with the Louis XIII style of the main building.
