Location
Approx. 145 km (91 miles) from Toulouse, 75 km (47 miles) from Bergerac and Brive-La-Gaillarde. In the Bouriane area, previously part of the Quercy region, situated in the continuation of the neighbouring Black Perigord. A totally unspoilt setting with contrasting relief made up not only of dense forests and the drier Causses but also of valleys crisscrossed by numerous streams and hills with totally unobstructed views.
Cahors, Gourdon, Sarlat and the Dordogne valley are not far away, together with the major historic sites of the region. But despite this proximity, its tranquillity remains undisturbed.
Description
In the heart of a pleasant village comprising numerous amenities, this French MH listed castle is a former 16th and 17th century seigneurial residence.
It is made up of several dwellings, built over cellars which are for the most part vaulted, and set out in a horseshoe-shape around an inner courtyard and a pleasure garden. This peaceful, deliciously romantic and fully walled property spans a little under 2,000 m² (0.5 acres).
A square tower, complete with arrow-loops, flanks the south-west corner of the building. In the courtyard, a round tower for a semi-engaged, corkscrew stairway has a door topped with a wide Renaissance-style casement window framed with sculpted dripstones.
This warmly welcoming castle has been carefully restored in keeping with its character and authenticity: 7 bedrooms, 6 of which interconnect, 5 shower rooms, 2 bathrooms, large lounge, kitchen and back kitchen, dining room, study, small lounge, vast terrace and balcony.

Our opinion
The external facades are so unassuming that there is nothing to indicate what a wonderful discovery this is. Once across the entrance porch, everything is a pleasure to behold. The setting transports us and the peace and quiet cannot be denied. A superb feeling of being cut off from the rest of the world. The works carried out incorporate all home comforts. Independent subdivisions are more than possible and enthusiasts will be delighted to know that it is also possible to envisage extensions. We like this singular and astonishing property very much.
