Castles / chateaux

On the borders of Normandy 53 miles from Paris.

Location

Not far from Giverny, the winding river Seine and the Vexin Regional Park.
In a landscape of farmlands and woods.

Description

The castle most probably dates from the 17th century though it was redesigned and extended in the 19th century.
A driveway, passing in front of the guard house and around a vast lawn, leads from the entrance gates up to the castle.
The symmetrical facade consists of a large pavilion with prominent features, flanked by square towers at each end. One part was no doubt added at the end of the 19th century.
Inside: Approx. 3,229 sq ft per floor most of which awaits renovation. An entrance hall and the reception rooms with their 19th century decor have been preserved.
19.76 acres of wooded parklands are partially walled and one section has planning permission. Greenhouse to be restored, towers and recent horse boxes.

Our opinion

A property which was entirely renovated by its current owners in the 1980s.
Another restoration programme would seem called for, the building having been used for professional purposes. This would be the occasion to add those decorative features that are currently lacking in one part of the building.

Price: 1 250 000 €
