Group of buildings on 17 ha (42 acres) of unrestricted land with 0.9 miles of coastline
In the south of the French department of Finistère, in the heart of the Bigouden region. 20 minutes from a French TGV train station and 15 from Quimper airport. The main road is 15 minutes away. All amenities nearby.
At the end of a no-through road, the property stretches over 17 ha (42 acres) of woods and gardens, running along approx. 700m (0,42 miles) of coastline. On land that was previously farmland but which is now unrestricted, several thousands of trees and bushes have been planted in the space of just a few years, varieties varying from chestnut and oak to maritime and umbrella pines. Several orchards, a vegetable garden as well as four lakes complete this totally natural property. Several hundreds of yards of paths have been created so that walks can be taken through the woods and along the coast.
On the highest part of the land stands a long, two-storey, south-facing building, consisting of three communicating sections. The slate roof features roof dormers. This fully renovated property spans a floor surface area of approx. 475 m² (5,113 sq ft).
The first section has exposed stone walls, the south facade of the other two sections have rendered walls with stone window framing.
The first section of the main building comprises a large, luminous entrance hall/dining room with, on the left, a corridor leading to a bedroom with bathroom, as well as a stairway leading to a mezzanine with a panelled ceiling, a bedroom and a shower room. On the right of the entrance are a kitchen, a laundry room and a corridor communicating with the second section.
A second stairway leads to a bedroom, a study and a bathroom. Extending back, over 42 m² (452 sq ft), a passageway connects a small, old, stone building, currently in use as a lounge with parquet flooring, a granite fireplace and wainscoting covering all the walls.
In the second section, which is communicating but which could be independent, are an entrance hall, a lounge with a fireplace, a kitchen, a laundry room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a wine cellar. Terracotta floor tiles. Upstairs, accessed via two stairways, are three bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room and a toilet.
Low, dry-stone walls have been built in order to structure the different levels of the outside in front of the building. In front of the main section, a wooden terrace and a swimming pool constitute a functional area for relaxation in perfect harmony with the wooded areas of the garden.
To the rear of the main dwelling, at the entrance to the property, with a seaview, is a caretaker’s cottage or guest house, built in 1999, with 135 m² (1,452 sq ft) of living space and a south-facing terrace. Near to the dwelling, almost as an extension, is a converted, 2-storey barn with a south-facing terrace.
On a lower level to the buildings is a greenhouse adjoining a stone building which contains the well pump equipment. A watering system is installed in part of the grounds.
The property also features
miscellaneous sheds used as a garage, a storage room, a workshop and an animal shelter.
Nature has slowly regained its rightful position and created a green haven bordering the coast: an ideal situation stretching along 1.5 km (0.9 miles) of coastline, rare enough nowadays to merit being highlighted. Rare, as this area has no coastal paths to cause any nuisances. Rare also for the quality of the surrounding biotope. And lastly, rare because of the surface area of the property, as regards both the unrestricted land and the residence itself, which is divided into numerous buildings in pristine condition and can be tailored in its use. It can be partially occupied by two people, or receive a large family, even several families, together or separately.
