Small, town manor house and its outbuildings in the Grand Morin area, 25 miles from Paris
40 km (25 miles) from Paris on the A4 motorway. In the north of the French department of Seine-et-Marne, in a town steeped in character and with all amenities: doctors, chemists, schools and all shops, etc. The site also has numerous attractions: its proximity to an adventure park, to Val d’Europe and to Chessy TGV train station.
This small, town manor house with pink rendering and a local, flat tile roof comprises four small intercommunicating buildings as well as an octagonal turret, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries and its outbuildings.
In the parklands is a 12th century circular tower.
The property has a very discrete entrance, and its external appearance is one of a simple town house. The entrance is directly off the street which is quiet, with immediate access to the house.
The house and the outbuildings are laid out around a square courtyard, surrounding a French formal garden: hedges and trimmed boxwood feature a central ornamental pool with water lilies.
Further down, the gardens are bordered by the Grand Morin river.
To the left of the outbuildings which have their own private entrance are romantic, semi-wild parklands which are also bordered by waterfalls.
This unusual dwelling has been entirely and tastefully renovated inside; the small-paned windows are a reflection of the 18th century era.
The house spans 3 levels: ground floor, mezzanine and first floor.
The ground floor includes a street entrance, 3 lounges, one of which opens on to the French formal garden, another circular one with parquet flooring is in the tower. It communicates with the other two.
A vast fitted kitchen with its dining area opens on to the garden making it an ideal living room. It has a resin floor.
The ceiling features exposed beams and joists.
The mezzanine comprises a large lounge with old terracotta tiles and a fireplace, beams and joists.
The first floor includes a bedroom and its bathroom. An independent section has a lounge with parquet flooring in the turret, a bedroom with parquet flooring a tiled shower room and a toilet.
The second floor (converted attic space) comprises two bedrooms and a shower room.
The outbuildings
To the right is a lean-to spanning two levels.
Ground floor: Cellars, machine rooms, workshops and miscellaneous storage areas.
Upstairs: attic space.
To the left, with its independent entrance is a two-storey house.
Ground floor: a flat on a level with the ground with kitchen, shower, toilet and bedroom.
A garage.
Upstairs, also on a level with the ground (due to the difference in ground levels in this part of the property), a large reception room that extends into a terrace.
An Italian gallery with a rockery.
A converted circular tower dating from the 12th century.
A house that blends superbly in with its surroundings; its originality lying in its discretion and its varied architecture. The French formal garden lends it a noble character and the presence of water brings life to the property. The rustling of the three-hundred year old plane tree, the babbling of the water at the end of the parklands and the fragrances of the flowers mixed with the boxwood mean that the town, so typical of the region, is forgotten.
