The property
The manor house, accessed via a narrow village lane and surrounded by beautiful trees, is to be found at the end of a long driveway. A driveway that crosses through 4.5 ha (11 acres) of grasslands planted with trees of over one hundred years old, and runs alongside a dovecote, dating from the 17th century, outbuildings as well as a guest house or caretaker’s cottage.
The Bray regional countryside is not troubled by any nuisances.
Having been redesigned, this manor house is now flanked by a 19th century building, and a keep dating from the 20th century.
The manor house
Although the property’s main building is a manor house which dates from the 17th century, its general appearance has been modified by works, including the addition of two wings and a keep, carried out during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The facade of the oldest part with its brick and flint bonding has a porch way with two landings and a handrail which provides access to the dwelling.
The facades feature numerous small-paned, casement windows.
The main building and its added wings can each be accessed from the outside, but intercommunicate on the inside.
Both sides of the slate roof topped with bell-turrets feature Jacobin-style roof dormers.
A total of approx. 900 m² (9,687 sq ft) of living space, of which 500 m² (5,382 sq ft) is converted, spans a ground floor and two stories.
The keep is divided on each of its three levels, accessed via a concrete stairway, into three identical rooms. The right 20th century wing also has identical stories. The rooms in the dwelling are, generally speaking, vast with very high ceilings.
Although successive works have somewhat redesigned the original layout, consecutive owners have each contributed to the modernisation of the building by adopting the style of their era.
The property is therefore surprising but, because of its geographical location, would be perfectly suited to a commercial development.
