Location

Ideally situated for the enjoyment of the tranquility offered by the surrounding countryside, the property is only a few min from a small town overlooking the river Garonne, where nothing seems to be missing. In a gently rolling landscape, spread over about 47 fully enclosed acres, including meadows, woods, stream, mature park, and an ornamental medieval style garden, surrounded by a palisade topped by 2 corner turrets, at the centre of which a large well thrones.

Description

Built in the late 15th C, the castle was originally an imposing fortified house. In cut stones throughout, it includes a basement floor, a raised ground floor, and an upper floor. The south facade is pierced with mullion windows and embellished with a beautiful exterior stone staircase with a covered landing on the right, and a large covered terrace on the left. The West side is flanked by a square tower dating from the 19th C. The northern side comprises 3 round towers overlooking the woods.

With a surface area of 520 m2, as well as 270 m2 of basement floor, currently used for technical facilities, as well as a small self contained apartment. It has been fully restored with great attention to comfort and elegance in a style combining contemporary with the traditional, while respecting the authenticity of the site. Among the main rooms are 2 galleries, living room and dining room with monumental stone fireplaces, study, large equipped kitchen, 5 spacious bedrooms including 3 with en suite bathrooms, utility room and a former chapel. Spacious and highly luminous interiors. Apart, a caretaker's house with a 5 to 6 cars garage.

Our opinion

A "beautiful property", appealing by its fully enclosed and carefully maintained estate, lacking in nuisance, as well as by its uncommon construction, a good example of regional medieval fortified architecture. The meticulous restoration allows for immediate habitation in a refined and cosy decor.
