16th century manor house
in the “Pays d’Auge“ region

Location

Nestling comfortably in the heart of the “Pays d’Auge” region, in the Cambremer area. The scenery of this land represents the archetype of Normandy and its postcards. This manor house is 16 miles equidistant from Caen, Deauville, Cabourg and Honfleur.
Close to one of the prettiest villages in France. Paris, St Lazare, is only a two hour train journey away.

Description

The property
It is set in just over 2 acres of charmingly wooded and carefully laid out grounds. The dwelling was built in 1550 on a promontory, leased by William the Conqueror, where the battle of Croissanville started in 945, and known thereafter as “la freule”.
The property is bordered by partly converted outbuildings which were built in 1800.
The manor house
The dwelling, former 16th century manor house with its half-timbered facade is typical of constructions in the “Pays d’Auge” region. Moats, on either side of an old bridge, encircle the residence.
A set of very comfortable rooms, including two bedrooms with original fireplaces, span a floor surface area of approx. 3,229 sq ft. Parquet flooring, wood and Caen stone adorn the inside of the building.

Our opinion

This fairly accurately restored building is straight out of the history books. The parklands isolate the dwelling from nearby properties.
Close to the coastal towns, this residence is not only comfortable to live in but would also clearly make an ideal holiday home.
