Location In a town with 4,000 inhabitants in the French department of Loire-Atlantique.
250 miles from Paris, 2 hours by TGV train, I hour by airplane. 20 minutes from Nantes.
Description The property, equally divided into woods, meadows and gardens, is set in 34.6 acres overlooking unspoilt countryside. Numerous trees over a hundred years old are scattered throughout the parklands, dominated by the castle and stretching down to a lake on the borders of the property. Overlooked only by unspoilt scenery. Driveways winding between lake, undergrowth and meadows, all landscaped in typical 19th century fashion, form a pleasant tour around the property.
The castle has a steep Mansard roof with triangular pediment roof dormers. It is in a good state of repair both inside and out and spans approx. 8,611 sq ft of superb, high-ceilinged reception rooms on the ground floor.
Entrance hall, corner lounge with a lateral-flue chimney, dining room opening on to the lounge, large, wonderfully luminous, corner kitchen, study and library.
Upstairs, the six main bedrooms are accompanied by four bathrooms. All are in a good state of repair with parquet flooring throughout.
The second floor leaves nothing to be desired as the quality of the terracotta tiled floors and the harmonization of the seven bedrooms create perfectly acceptable accommodation. Additions can be made to the two bathrooms if necessary.
The third floor comprises attic space spanning approx. 538 sq ft.
Several outbuildings are grouped around an attractive courtyard planted with trees and await development. The five soberly and elegantly decorated buildings are in a good state of repair and predisposed to use for regular public functions.
The proximity of the buildings means that the surface areas available can be modulated in accordance with the size of each event.
A tennis court is out of sight to the rear of the property.
Our opinion A well-balanced property sold with its large outbuildings that open up wonderful prospects for additional conversion possibilities. All set in the vicinity of one of the most dynamic towns in France. It is easy to imagine this site open to the public.
