Description
Having belonged to one of the leading citizens in the second half of the 15th century, it is the oldest house inside the walls of the old town; sector preserved by the “Bâtiments de France”.
Redesigned at the end of the 18th century, it is now completely restored in keeping with its history.
It spans 3 stories and approx. 1,991 sq ft of living space including a large 538 sq ft cathedral lounge with a ceiling over 26 ft high.
All of its rooms have preserved their authentic period features:
- stone window seats built into the wooden mullioned window flanning,
- a gable wall with a double row of cross braces.
- a spiral stairway hewn from a single oak tree trunk,
- a monoxylous trough made of oak from the Tronçais forest,
- a 15th century fireplace,
- an arrow-loop, old stone flagstones, etc.
The architectural decor of its 258 sq ft garage has also been preserved such that it could be transformed into a wonderful living room.
