Large, Art-Deco church with land in Picardy, 90 minutes from Paris
Near to the centre of a town of art and history in the French department of Aisne, in Upper Picardy, near to Belgium and Northern Europe.
In a region that is rich in colour and history, in the heart of a natural and architectural heritage.
Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, and with buildings featuring gothic and Art-Deco architecture.
Between Paris and Brussels, approx. one hour from Lille, and a little more than three hours from London.
It can be reached quickly and easily.
The church is built of concrete and bricks in two different hues. It has a tiled roof, which is gabled at the front and conical at the back and on the sides.
Above the building, in the centre, is a dome with leaded windowpanes, covered with copper, crowned with a small bell tower sheltering a statue, and topped with a cross.
Although built over a full, non-underground basement, it can be accessed virtually without a stairway due to a slight knoll in front of the building.
The facade features a double framing of the entrance, topped with a semi-circular stained glass window, flanked by two columns with pointed ends, and dominated by a triangular pediment adorned with a cross.
The relatively unusual layout of the property represents the outlines of a trapezoidal shape, broken by protuberances that are rounded or with clipped off corners, with a protrusion at the end.
On the sides are square or rectangular stained glass windows of varying sizes.
The stained glass windows, particularly around the dome, and on each side of the transept, each representing a series of full-size standing characters and saints, have an outstanding composition of pieces of richly coloured glass.
These are lit up at night via internal lighting to enable the colours and the composition to be fully appreciated from the outside.
The religious edifice has an architectural and a cultural value, considered, like other monuments, to be an integral part of the town’s heritage, more particularly Art-Deco.
To the rear of the church, a large flat plot of lawn, free of plants and bordered with trees at the end, with another road access, completes the property.
The building has a total surface area of more than 900 m² (9,687 sq ft), on building land of close to 5,000 m² (1.24 acres).
A former religious edifice that was still a place of worship until quite recently. Its design and size are both astonishing and impressive. The original and surprising architecture makes it possible to imagine a variety of uses and the possibilities are endless.

A building that is out of the ordinary and that gives free rein to the imagination.
The conversion potential is great but obviously requires a certain amount of works.
And with such a large surface area of building land added to the rear of the property, we can but think that an additional construction could complete a vast complex, for example, for receiving, accommodating, exhibiting or for putting on shows.
Without doubt a superb architectural opportunity.
Its location in this town and this region is another considerable asset.
