NORTH & WEST

our offers

Large territory uniting the administrative regions of Northern France, Upper and Lower Normandy, Brittany and the Pays-de-la-Loire.

Nord-Pas-de-Calais The agricultural plain of Flanders separates the industrial cities with their brick houses from the “Bocage Boulonnais” (small fields and hedges in the area around Pas-de-Calais), edged by the cliffs and the vast beaches along the “Côte d’Opale” (coast from Calais to Boulogne-sur-Mer). A highly developed motorway network connects Paris to the north of Europe.

Upper Normandy The Seine Valley is the main interchange route to the English Channel. The museum town of Rouen is France’s leading cereal port and Le Havre is France’s leading port as regards external trade. Outstanding forests stretch over 20% of the territory, birthplace of many prestigious creators: Corneille, Flaubert, Maupassant, Queneau, Géricault and Duchamp.

Lower Normandy The Cotentin Peninsula with its granite countryside and its coastal way of life brings Brittany to mind. Most of the land around the university and commercial town of Caen is taken up with cereal crops. To the attractions of the “bocage” countryside (small fields and hedges), domain of cattle and horses, can be added the fame of the religious monuments and souvenirs of the Normandy Landings.

Brittany The coastline stretches for 1,100 km (688 miles) from Cancale to Pornic but it doubles in length if you take the many islands into account. The coastal regions (Armor or better Arvor) are traditionally differentiated from the inland regions (Argoad).
Land of legends where menhirs and chapels are to be found in their thousands.

Pays de la Loire In addition to the splendour of its chateaux, the Loire Valley offers quality wines. Vast stretches of marshlands contrast with the small irregular-shaped fields separated by hedges and ditches. The region is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean for 368 kilometres (230 miles) and has two large islands, the Island of Noirmoutier and the Island of Yeu. The relief of the region comprises the Vendée Hills to the south, and to the north of Sarthe and Mayenne by the Coevrons, the Alpes Mancelles, Perseigne Forest and the Perche Hills.
