The architecture
The building itself can but bring the eclectic style from the late 19th century to mind.
The residence, built in 1890, is topped with a multiple-sloped, slate roof: hipped roofs having upward curving slopes with finials, overhanging eaves on a Mansard, crippled hip-roof with a zinc deck and slate roof break, featuring large gable-fronted roof dormers.
The rear extension has a roof terrace.
The outside walls are built of millstone. The toothed quoins, the columns, the window framing with arched, pink brick coping, the cornices and the consoles are painted white.
The terrace and balcony balustrades as well as the railings at the windows are of wrought cast iron or wrought iron.
The porch way and the main wrought iron entrance are set in the facade on a level with the slightly raised ground floor. They are accessed by means of a curved stairway.
A large, recent, 2-storey extension on a rear gable wall can be directly accessed from the inside. It opens on to the garden and the swimming pool by means of a stairway leading down from upstairs and by means of large picture windows on the garden level.
The residence
Approx. 300 m² (3,229 sq ft) of living space.
The floors are covered with floor tiles featuring inlaid decoration, strip pattern oak parquet flooring or carpet, with mosaic tiles in the bathrooms.
Raised ground floor
Large entrance hall leading left to a pantry, a kitchen, a toilet and a dining room; right, set opposite, to a large reception room (double lounge) and a terrace. At the end, an oak wood stairway, with a stair runner, leads upstairs.
First floor
Landing, two large bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet, a dressing room and a terrace.
Second floor with slightly sloping ceilings
Landing, three bedrooms, a shower room, a toilet, a dressing room and a games room.
Garden level and full basement
Garage, machine room, cellar, laundry room and various hall areas.
On the garden level of the rear extension is a large room, illuminated by large, sliding picture windows.
The outbuilding
At the entrance to the property is a small self-contained pavilion spanning approx. 30 m² (323 sq ft) for use as a caretakers’ cottage or an office.
The grounds
Approx. 1,150 m² (0.28 acres) of lawn, flower beds and various species of trees.
The swimming pool at the back gets plenty of sun and is completely unoverlooked in the clement seasons.
This immaculately kept property is fully enclosed by walls and entrance gates.
This comfortable, spacious residence has a certain charm partly due to its original features which have been preserved: decorative staffs, mouldings, rosettes, wainscoting, stylish marble fireplaces and panoramic “Zuber” wallpaper.
The opulent, architectural character of middle-class houses at the time, the particularly residential, peaceful, nuisance-free surroundings facing the Marne, whilst being near to the town centre and its proximity to Paris are the major assets of this beautiful, large family home.
