Residence dating from the Restoration period with French MH listing near to Paris
In Thiais in the French department of Val-de-Marne, less than 10 km (6 miles) south of Paris. The municipality has all shops, amenities, leisure activities, places of religious worship and schools. Nearby buses, RER and SNCF train stations (Paris 10 minutes).
The historical past of this residence, built in 1825 in the centre of parklands featuring a group of buildings which have since been destroyed, is known. It was given French MH listing in 1929 and is the sole vestige of this era.
It is now part of an elegant, secured estate, the buildings of which span but three stories and are topped with slate Mansard roofs.
Built during the Restoration period, the residence comprises a central, two-storey building with facades topped by classical triangular pediments, and two perfectly symmetrical wings. It is built of gypsum blocks with white rendering. The walls, adorned with cornices, string courses, pilasters, consoles and quoins, are decorated with mouldings.
The entire roof is covered with flat rolled zinc laid on battens. In the centre of the facade, stone steps lead up to a small, slightly set back porch way in the middle of which are the double entrance doors. The rear facade features a four-column peristyle sheltering a stone terrace that looks out over a private garden and large landscaped parklands.
The vertical widows are protected by cast iron railings.

The outbuilding
A double garage (28 m² / 301 sq ft) situated in the basement of one of the nearby buildings on the co-owned estate.
A residence with sober architecture, sometimes referred to as a chateau, which has, over the years, received a good number of high-brow people, mainly friends and teachers from the “Ecole Polytechnique” where the architect who built it taught architecture. The original decorative features have been preserved both inside and out; they include decorative staffs, mouldings, foliated scrolls, rosettes and panelling which bear tasteful witness to the elegant trimmings inspired by the Louis XVI, Directoire and Empire styles.
In a problem-free town that has the advantage of the nearby Orly airport without having to experience any of the nuisances, this elegant pavilion benefits from the advantages, services, upkeep and security of the co-owned estate.
In short, a beautiful, listed residence, in pristine condition, in town but with the advantage, on the terrace side, of a soothing view of immaculately kept landscaped parklands that appear endless.
