In the 14th arrondissement, in the heart of the Alésia district, once known as the Petit-Montrouge district, on the northern border of the Montparnasse district, to the east of the Parc-de-Montsouris district, south of the town of Montrouge and west of the Plaisance district.
The division of the land and the size of the individual dwellings are the significant characteristics of the district. Many plots were only built at the front leaving room for town houses or artist’s studios.
Description
This artist’s studio is on the 1st floor overlooking a courtyard laid out as a communal garden with flowers and containing tables and chairs for the co-owners’ use.
The façade of this two storey building features a window that spans all the floors to a height of approx. 6 m.
The ground floor includes a 41.37 m² (445.3 sq ft) reception room. An open-plan kitchen is on the left, followed by a shower room and a toilet.
Set back from the reception room, a metal spiral stairway leads to the various floors of the studio.
Opposite the top of the stairs on the first floor, is a study which could be turned into a bedroom.
At the end and up a few steps is an area laid out for storage purposes with a sofa bed and a toilet.
Accessed via the stairway, a level between floors contains an 11 m² (118 sq ft) bedroom.
On the 2nd floor, under the rafters, is a 12 m² (129 sq ft) bedroom. At the end of this floor, with a ceiling less than 1.8 m (5.9 ft) high, is a storeroom with a toilet.
Our opinion
A genuine artist’s studio, surrounded by other artist’s studios, lived in by artists.
It is not necessary to be a creative person in order to live here, but it is essential that its immediate surroundings, a crucial part of its soul, are fully appreciated.
