17th century flat near the “Palais Royal”

Location

Near to the “Comedie Française” and the gardens of the “Palais Royal”, in a 17th century, dressed stone building with recently refurbished facades.

Description

Accessed via a stone and wood stairway with balanced steps, this through flat with its 2 bedrooms takes up the entire 3rd floor.
In the tradition of its era, it has large open rooms, communicating via double doors, with 3.8 m (12.5 ft) high ceilings; it is ideal for entertaining.
The entrance door opens directly into a wonderful, perfectly square, 30 m² (323 sq ft) room, illuminated via two windows overlooking the street, a living room complete with a kitchen area and a large table. Old oak, herringbone parquet flooring covers the floor.
This room extends into a lounge with a fireplace, wainscoting, discrete mouldings and an elegant corner window symmetrically opposite a cupboard. Here, there is modern, copper clad steel flooring. The adjoining rooms are completed by a 15 m² (162 sq ft) bedroom overlooking a quiet, narrow street.
On one side of the reception rooms are a shower room with an Italian shower, a toilet, and a guest shower room. Upstairs, a guest bedroom is set out on a half-floor.

Our opinion

A flat that combines cultures, highlighting spaciousness, luminosity and the surface area of the reception rooms (more than 60 m² / 646 sq ft). The sobriety and good taste of the era are brought to the fore, with modern materials harmonising perfectly with the nobility of the original ones.
