The manor house
This east-west-facing, granite and rubble stone construction with its long-sloped roof was built in the 16th century. It spans approx. 460 m² of living space over 3 levels.
The polygonal tower, with its candlesnuffer roof and housing a stairway, is partly incorporated into the carcass on the rear facade.
The manor house’s elongated layout, characteristic of dwellings with two rooms on the ground floor, connects a room, originally the kitchen, to the gable end of the main room. Said main room provides access to a storeroom of a similar length set in the rear section.
The kitchen leads to a back kitchen with a fireplace, a wall cupboard as well as an alcove, and then to the latrines.
- A 10 m² workshop adjoining the manor house.
- A 64 m² shed.
- A 19 m² lean-to.
- A 10 m² garden shed.
- A woodshed.
Reached via a secondary stairway as is common in this type of construction, the superb room at the top of the tower evokes a lookout room. It also brings to mind that of the castle in the Perigord region where Montaigne set up his library and wrote his famous “Essais”, at the very same time that this Brittany manor house was built. Obviously of an ideal size for studying and meditating, this property will incite any new owners to unpack their books and other treasures, especially as the view to be had from the top windows is enough to inspire the most exalted minds. The quality of the restoration works is also worth taking a look at and the enhancement of its old features will transport all dreamers back to the 16th century. The fixtures and fittings in the kitchen and bathrooms will, however, remind them that they are living comfortably in the 21st century.
This estate can be further developed through the purchase of an old, 18th century, traditional, local farmhouse in the immediate vicinity of the manor house.
