In the south of the French department of Finistère, on the Cornouaille coast, where coastal paths are full of coves and fine sandy beaches with nooks and crannies just waiting to be explored. The Glénan Islands can be seen out at sea.
Part of a commune with 6,000 inhabitants as well as all shops and amenities. Paris can easily be reached by train (a station is 15 minutes away) and by airplane on a daily basis; the airport is 30 minutes away.


A narrow lane on the outskirts of a market town leads discreetly to a set of gates that open on to this property, spanning over 4 ha. A first outbuilding, standing on the left-hand side of the entrance, could be used as a caretaker’s cottage. Extending the projection, on the right-hand side, is another renovated outbuilding. The driveway leads to the manor house, the terrace of which faces an ornamental pool on a lower level. The immediate surroundings are immaculately kept, the parklands comprising numerous decoratively trimmed boxwood, yew and laurel bushes as well as rhododendron, hydrangea and azalea bushes. The outside lighting and the main alleyway were recently redone. A garage as well as a vegetable garden and an orchard (apple, pear, fig, etc.) are nearby. The property composed of gardens and predominantly of woods, has a stream running through it on a lower level which is bordered by well-kept, peaceful undergrowth. There are also the ruins of an old mill, a building and a 19th century folly.

The manor house

This manor house, dating from the beginning of the 20th century, is built of rubble stone with dressed stone framing around the openings and a slate roof. It spans approx. 500 m² over three levels as well as a basement and faces east-west, making it extremely luminous. A large terrace of approx. 125 m² runs alongside the west facade. A machine room, adjoining the rear of the manor house, contains a boiler.

Ground floor
A flight of steps leads to the terrace, followed by the entrance to the manor house. This area provides access, on the right-hand side, to a large 65 m² lounge with strip pattern parquet flooring, moulding, a fireplace and a bow window. Its tall openings on three sides provide luminosity which is increased by the fact that the room faces south. At the other end of the manor house, facing west and opening on to the terrace, is a dining room, spanning approx. 34 m², with moulding and parquet flooring. A fitted kitchen spans approx. 17 m². A dressing room and a toilet are to the right of the entrance area.
First floor
The stairway goes upstairs from the entrance hall to the first floor and its landing which provides access to two night-time areas. The first, spanning a floor surface area of approx. 75 m², comprises a bedroom with a double aspect balcony, a large dressing room, a bathroom, a toilet and a corridor.
At the other end of the corridor is another bedroom with a shower room, a dressing room and a toilet.

Second floor
The landing on this floor provides access to a triple aspect bedroom with a shower room and a toilet. Another bedroom has a dressing area, a shower room and a toilet. This floor also includes two more rooms which could be converted into bedrooms or studies as well as a storage room.
Mezzanine floor
This level comprises five areas including a laundry room, a study and two storage rooms with numerous cupboards as well as a fitted wine cellar.
A 70 m² garage on the south side of the property includes an additional room.
Guest house
This building, all on one level and spanning a total of approx. 220 m², was renovated not so very long ago. It comprises three bedrooms, each with a shower room and a toilet, accessed via a long corridor as well as a living room. A boiler room adjoins the outbuilding (condensing boiler).
This one-storey building, located at the entrance to the property, comprises six rooms, three of which could be used for accommodation purposes. The three other rooms (including a machine room) have great conversion potential.

Our opinion

This property has been improved over recent years, its current owners having managed to combine elegance with functionality. One of the outbuildings has also been completely reconverted, whilst another has significant renovation potential. Standing, moreover, just a few minutes from beaches and various tourist sites, this manor house can but be described as pleasant.
