In the Trégor region in the French department of Côtes d'Armor, not far from a large town connected to Paris via TGV train lines. This property, on the undulating, wooded territory of a commune with all amenities, stands in a rustic setting on the outskirts of a market town.
Description
The manor house
This manor house, dating from the late 15th century and built of granite with a slate roof featuring triangular pediment roof dormers, is rectangular in shape. It has a tower that is partly incorporated into the carcass. Its height is offset by the shape of two roof dormers with steep gables which enhance its streamlined shape. The entrance door has a triangular archway topped with an ogee arch decorated with curly kale and a finial. The dressed stone facade features mullioned windows and faces south-south-east. The three levels on the inside span approx. 285 m² of living space and comprise two vast areas set out on either side of a load-bearing wall, in front of which stands the tower, providing access to all the rooms. Only the ground and the first floors have an additional area which was converted following the creation of the manor house. The stairway tower is unusual, making this manor house stand out from others of the same period. It is, in fact, topped with a lookout room and a dovecote.
Our opinion
The harmonious proportions of this reasonably-sized manor house leave no-one indifferent. Its appearance and its elegance have come untarnished down through the centuries and its listing with the French Historic Monument Association has bestowed it with all the attention due to such a building. New owners will, therefore, be able to take over the reins of this manor house easily as there are very few works to be carried out. The outbuildings, however, could be converted, their capacity constituting a major asset.
