On the outskirts of a small village, in rolling, wooded countryside with irregular-shaped fields separated by hedges and ditches. Near to Baugeois forest and a golf course. Less than ten kilometres from two small character towns with all shops and amenities. Some twenty minutes from a slip road for the A11 motorway which makes it possible to reach Paris in 2½ hours.


A tree-lined alleyway leads to the manor house, set in the middle of the garden. The east section of the garden is closed by an old barn and another building currently in ruins. Its west section features a lawn and is planted with fruit trees. A terrace is laid out around the north gable end of the manor house.

The manor house

This manor house, built of stone and quarry blocks under tinted lime rendering, spans three levels, one of which is under the rafters. The flat tile roof has two slopes. The tops of the gable ends are adorned with “rondelis” (stone edging that rises above the roof). The openings are framed with freestone. Most of the windows feature mullions. A small one-storey building, with attic space, adjoins the north gable end.

Ground floor
The vestibule provides access, on one side, to a lounge and, on the other, to a dining room. It also leads to a toilet and to a linen room. All these rooms have terracotta floor tiles and exposed beams. Both the lounge and the dining room have freestone fireplaces and window seats set in the window embrasures. The kitchen can be reached from the dining room via two doors. This room has stone floor tiles and exposed ceiling beams. A straight flight wooden stairway in the entrance hall goes up to the first floor.
First floor
A wide landing, with terracotta floor tiles, provides access, on one side, to a bedroom and, on the other, to a hall area leading to two bedrooms, a bathroom and a toilet. The first of these three bedrooms, with strip pattern parquet flooring, has a freestone fireplace, exposed ceiling beams and two windows with window seats. It also has its own shower room and toilet. The two other bedrooms have strip pattern parquet flooring with exposed ceiling beams in one and the exposed roofing framework in the other. A narrow open stairway leads from the landing up to the attic space.
Second floor
A wide landing provides access to two bedrooms with shower rooms and toilets. Rush matting covers the floors throughout this level which also features an exposed roofing framework.

The outbuildings

The two outbuildings comprise an old barn, with a gable slate roof in use as a garage and a workshop, as well as a large building currently in ruins.

Our opinion

On the fringes of the Paris Basin in natural surroundings where time passes slowly, especially when residents, sitting in a window seat, watch it pass from behind leaded lights. And yet, if the facades of the manor house, the same colour as the sand of the river Loir, appear as fresh as in the time of King René more than five centuries ago, it is courtesy of unostentatious but meticulous restoration works. Similar works were carried out on the inside. Newcomers will have the pleasure of enhancing the garden surrounding the residence and getting the best out of the outbuilding.
