Location
Le-Perreux-sur-Marne, dubbed the “pearl of east Paris”, extends along the heights and banks of a loop of the river Marne, not far from the Bois-de-Vincennes.
This property stands in a quiet, one-way street on the edge of Perreux Park, taking advantage of its verdant, protected setting, without the constraints of a co-owned property. This district is one of the most residential in the French department of Val-de-Marne.
The town centre as well as all shops and schools are in the immediate vicinity.
Paris can be reached via the Bois-de-Vincennes or the A86 and A4 motorways. Porte-Dorée and Porte-de-Bercy are 11 km away.
Description
The house
This house was built in the 1930’s on a large plot of land, surrounded by high stone walls, on the edge of Perreux Park. It spans 3 levels: a ground, a first and a second floor, all built over a basement. The architecture used for this project was extremely sober, with a large number of features characteristic of middle-class homes at that time. It has a tall east-west facing pavilion, flanked by an impressive wing set slightly back at right angles, under a gable roof. The facades feature tall openings, fitted with railings and surrounded by concrete lintels as well as jambs and closed by folding metal shutters. Said facades are rendered and painted in pastel hues. Both the steeply sloping roof on the wing and the gently sloping pavilion roof are completely covered with interlocking tiles with elegant edges. It spans a total living space of approx. 210 m², in addition to a basement of approx. 70 m².
Our opinion
The current owners have skilfully renovated this house such that the living areas are perfectly organised to provide a maximum of well-being for all members of the family, with a modern decor providing a refreshing touch to all the rooms whilst blending in with the original architectural features. This residence is then free of all conventionality and uniformity. Beyond its high garden walls, this family home benefits from surroundings that have long been chosen by the shrewdest and most demanding of residents. Everything, including schools and shops, is within walking distance.
