In the Gâtine Tourangelle region, on the edge of the valley, between fields and woods.

Description

This property is laid out along a little quiet lane, with no direct neighbours or other nuisances. Informal hedges enclose the grounds. One of its two entrances provides access to the rear of the farmhouse, whilst the other, main entrance opens on to a gravel driveway. The farmhouse adjoins a barn via a covered area, forming a right-angled corner. Under this covered area are a cellar and a lean-to. This south-facing traditional, long farmhouse stands parallel to the road, in the centre of its grounds. Behind the farmhouse is a greenhouse as well as a swimming pool, taking good advantage of its privacy.

The house

This old traditional, 30 m long farmhouse is above all quite plain and yet its two main facades are very different. One is fairly contemporary in style whilst the other is still in its original condition. The roofs, covered with small tiles, feature shed dormers, small and triangular in shape on the south side and reflecting a Jacobin style on the north side. The south-facing walls are rendered. Four old buttresses on the north side support the wall with its lime-rendering, its quarry stone blocks and its freestone. The openings are laid out in an asymmetric manner.


Ground floor
As with all old rural houses, the front door opens directly into the kitchen. It is welcoming, open and fashionable, with the beams and walls in shades of grey and the furniture, including the central unit, in white. The flooring, with large sable coloured tiles, is the same throughout the ground floor. A storeroom and a linen room can be directly accessed from the kitchen. Between the latter and the dining room is a first stairway, under which has been installed a toilet. A lounge, following on from the dining room, is enhanced with a brick fireplace dating from the beginning of the last century. It precedes a hall area leading to a shower room, a toilet and a study, with a second stairway going upstairs.
Attic
The stairway in the kitchen goes up to a landing, providing access, on one side, to a bedroom, its bathroom and its dressing room, and, on the other side, to a succession of two bedrooms, a bathroom and a last bedroom connected to the study on the ground floor via the second stairway.

Our opinion

Freestone has been used for keystones above the windows and for the quoins, enhancing the interior facade of the L-shape formed by the traditional farmhouse and its barn. The facade on the outside is more rustic. This house is a tranquil base for those preferring not to live in the large town of Tours or having the audacity to want to explore the wealth of heritage and natural sites in the area around Tours.
