Description

This property, surrounded by its land on three sides, is composed of three houses laid out in a U-shape around a grassy courtyard, delightfully planted with trees and flowers.
The parklands are accessed through a wooden gate set in a stone wall. Sloping gradually down to a lake on a lower level, the passageway crosses an orchard and a vegetable garden, accompanied by the gentle murmuring of an astonishing spring forming a waterfall, channelled by a narrow stone construction.
A vast terrace on the corner of the courtyard, like a belvedere, dominates the undulating countryside as well as an impressive stone pool fed by a spring.

The first house

This first house is probably the result of the combining of two buildings with separate roofs, featuring small roof dormers.
The wooden-framed windows are double-glazed and the semi-circular arched entrance door is flanked by impressive blocks of stone, the tone of which resembles that of granite.
Its other facade looks out over a strip of land, bordering the property, which could be cultivated or transformed into grassland for members of the horse family, once it has been fenced in.

Ground floor
A little entrance corridor provides access to the main room. The floor here is covered with terracotta tiles as in all the rooms on this level. This room, currently a lounge, is sober with an open-hearth fire, exposed ceiling beams, painted white to reinforce the light flooding in through the many windows, and a French window opening on to a terrace.
Two steps then lead to a delightfully rustic, fully fitted kitchen, with a fireplace identical to the previous one.
The kitchen precedes a plain, very functional laundry room.

First floor
The stairway goes up from the living room to a landing, paved with small terracotta floor tiles. Said landing provides access to a first bedroom, with oak wood flooring, a bathroom and a toilet, followed by a second, smaller bedroom and, lastly, a third bedroom, with a shower room. The latter two bedrooms have natural fibre floor matting. A fourth bedroom is laid out next to a shower room with a toilet.
The walls in all these sober but cosy bedrooms are painted white.

Second floor
This level comprises two bedrooms, one of which has its own shower room.

The second house

This second house closes the U-shaped inner courtyard. Its architecture is similar to that of the other buildings.

Ground floor
A massive, oak wood, entrance door opens into an elegant room, one wall of which is entirely taken up by an old unit bearing the patina of time, composed of shelves and drawers numbered with gold-leaf figures. The floor is coated with resin as in all the other rooms on this level. The neighbouring room could be used as an artist’s studio. It has a lift going up to the second floor. It precedes a vast garage, with a little room, housing a small kitchen, a shower and a toilet.
First floor
The stairway going upstairs is made of resin-coated concrete. This level has solid oak wood flooring throughout. The first room is a sumptuous library, completely lined with bookshelves and featuring a marble fireplace, topped with a gold-leaf mirror.
A long corridor leads to a bedroom, the lift, a bathroom, with a toilet, and a modern kitchen. These are followed, at the end of the corridor, by a study with a mezzanine above it, reached via an alternating-tread stairway.

The caretaker’s cottage

This cottage, standing immediately on the right-hand side of the property’s entrance porch, is constructed from pointed quarry stone blocks and topped with a flat tile roof. It spans a surface area of approx. 80 m² over two levels and comprises two bedrooms. Its windows uniquely overlook the parklands and the gravel carpark preceding the porch; there are no windows overlooking the courtyard.

The exercise room

Spanning two levels, it comprises a room as well as a shower room and a toilet on the ground floor. The upstairs, with sloping ceilings, currently houses shelves used for storing archives.
This building spans a surface area of approx. 70 m².

Our opinion

This coherent property is composed of various buildings, guaranteeing total independence for its residents. It could therefore be used either by a family with several generations wanting to live close to one another, or it could stay as it is, a particularly tranquil spot, ideal for reading, studying, writing and creating. The presence of water on this 3-ha plot of land is particularly outstanding, especially as there are waterfalls reminiscent of gardens in Italy.
These plain, convivial premises are enhanced by the quality of the conversion works, old and recent alike.
