This Bastide house widely dominates a traditional Provencal village, with its houses displaying their warms hues, its cool-running river, its many fountains as well as its languid cafés and restaurants along the main street, lined with age-old plane trees. Perched on a rocky barrier acting as setting for the village, it has a 180° view stretching into the distance over the foothills of Mount Sainte-Victoire, much appreciated and immortalised by French painter Cézanne.

The terraced land is laid out in tiers which adjoin the rocky barrier at the foot of which are shelters under the rock, including one which has long been converted into a basic artist’s studio, with a clear view over the village and Mount Sainte-Victoire. Another shelter has a room, with a tank for recovering water seeping through the vault, and adjoins the ruin of what could have been an old sheepfold.
A vaulted wine cellar nestles half-way down the land.
And lastly, a larger cave and a final terraced area, planted with olive trees, completes the property.

The traditional Bastide house

This house, surrounded by terraces, is in a dominant position, with an outstanding view over the village and Mount Sainte-Victoire.
It also includes a self-contained studio flat.

The 3,233 m² of land comprises a flat section and a terraced area, planted with olive trees as well as large succulent plants and reinforced by the stone walls so typical of Provencal gardens. There are also shelters under the rock and caves.

Ground floor
A French window in the dining room, looking widely out over the terrace, provides a panoramic view over the village and Mount Sainte-Victoire. This room, fully lined along its south facade by picture windows is extremely bright. It is extended at its west end by an open-plan kitchen area which has the same panoramic view. Near to this French window, a stairway goes upstairs.
The dining room opens in two places on to a wide corridor which gives access to all the rooms on this level. On the east side, two spacious bedrooms are enhanced with windows opening on to the terrace and the garden.
The corridor then leads to a bathroom, with a bath, a shower and two wash-hand basins, followed by a toilet, a laundry-boiler room and a linen room which has numerous cupboards. The corridor continues to a large lounge, with a fireplace, illuminated via numerous windows and French windows opening on to the section of the terrace that faces south and west, overlooking the swimming pool.

First floor
A corridor leads to two bedrooms, a shower room with a toilet and an attic which cannot be converted.

Swimming pool

A 7.5x5 m, infinity swimming pool, with its deck out of sight of onlookers, enhances the west side of the Bastide house. It faces south.


This pool-house also includes a 20 m² studio flat for visitors. It comprises an entrance hall, a shower room with a toilet and a bedroom. A patio and an area reserved for barbecues complete the pool-house.


A pergola and a shady terrace have been laid out next to the swimming pool.


The grounds are composed of a flat section and a terraced area, the latter generously planted with olive trees as well as large succulent plants and dotted with the stone walls typical of Provence. A path, winding its way between the terracing, keeps a close watch on a vaulted wine cellar, completely hewn in the rock, followed a little further on by a series of caves and shelters under the rock, one of which has long been converted into an artist’s studio, spanning approx. 20 m², with an opening and a panoramic view over the valley. A ruin, which could once have been a sheepfold, is concealed by vegetation. The path comes to an end directly under the wall of the neighbouring ruined castle.


The terracing is dotted with old flights of stone steps, leading to alleyways, shaded by typically Mediterranean vegetation.

Artist's studio

Once a shelter under the rock, this old artist’s studio was no doubt converted in the 18th or 19th century. Spanning approx. 20 m² and enhanced with an unobstructed panoramic view, it is surrounded by large succulent plants.


This property has two garages. One of them is hewn out of the rock, the other is a traditional construction. They stand at the entrance to the property, next to the entrance gates.

Caves and cellars

This property also includes three vaulted caves/cellars. One is set in the terracing, the other two are under the main terrace.

In addition to its ease of access via miscellaneous communication routes, one of the major assets of this property is its dominant position with a 180° view looking down over the valley, the village and Mount Sainte-Victoire, as well as its southern aspect. This unobstructed view bestows the property with a feeling of well-being and privacy which can but appeal to potential buyers.
The authenticity of its setting, with its outstanding caves, cellars and shelters under the rock as well as its terracing dotted with olive trees and luxuriant succulent plants, is one of the most sought-after characteristics of this legendary land.
