Square-Clignancourt comprises buildings constructed of brick and stone, created by architect Paul-Morice. They are set out around public gardens which, since 2007, have been known as Square-Maurice-Kriegel-Valrimont.
The gardens are a verdant haven of peace with a children’s playground and a music stand. It is planted with some outstanding trees. An 18 m tall China fir, its trunk measuring more than 2 m in circumference, was planted in 1910. It dominates pagoda, paulownia, lime, hornbeam, maple, chestnut, cherry plum and oak trees as well as a Constantinople hazel, a flowering cherry and a wild cherry tree. There are also masses of little shrubs including aucuba, privet, yew and boxwood.
The nearest underground station is Jules-Joffrin on line 12.
The landing door opens into a bright, spacious vestibule. Double doors, enhanced with stained-glass windows, provide access to a double living room, steeped in light via two large French windows opening, one, on to a balcony big enough to take a table and two chairs, the other, on to a little balcony. The living room walls are lined with moulded panelling. The floor is covered with herringbone pattern, oak wood parquet flooring. At the end of the room, a marble fireplace with a cast iron fireback is topped with a mirror trumeau.
Opposite the living room in the entrance hall is a kitchen, large enough to include an eating area. Its built-in units are made of solid wood. The floor is covered with stoneware tiles, work surfaces are made of granite and windows are glazed with stained glass. It also has a back door.
A corridor leads from the vestibule to the area devoted to bedrooms.
The first section of the corridor, set at right angles, comprises three floor-to-ceiling cupboards. Further along, the corridor is lined on one side with a long low bookshelf unit.
The first bedroom, overlooking the courtyard via a stained-glass window, has its own shower room. It is followed by a toilet and a bathroom, with a very large bath (140x90 cm) and a wash-hand basin set in a wooden vanity unit. The second bedroom, at the end of the corridor, also overlooks the courtyard. It is fitted with a number of cupboards.
The bedroom doors are topped with stained-glass fanlights. The floors are laid with strip pattern, oak wood parquet flooring.
