A pedestrian and vehicle gates open on to a large paved courtyard, formed by the layout of the various buildings. One of them, overlooking the street, is divided into two sections, a guest house and a barn, featuring a mezzanine. Set back, the main building is followed by an old, open building, topped with a robust roofing framework covered with flat roof tiles, used as a carport. A little further away, another gate opens directly into the large garden, laid out behind the main house. It is enhanced with a swimming pool, together with a machine room, a covered terrace, which is used as a summer eating area, a small chalet with a French bowls pitch and a tool shed.

The main house

This residence comprises several sandstone buildings, connected to one another under a roof covered with flat terracotta tiles. The floors are laid with square or hexagonal terracotta tiles; the walls feature exposed stone. It spans a floor surface area of approx. 270 m², spread out over two levels, and it has a wine cellar.

Ground floor
There are several entrances. The main entrance opens into a large, spacious room (with a ceiling almost 5 m high) laid out as a dining room and flanked between two stairways, one of which leads to an open-plan room in use as a television room, the other leads to a suite. A door opens into a spacious, first-class kitchen, fitted with “La Cornue” units and kitchen range. A back kitchen and a laundry room complete this area. On the other side, a passageway leads to a boiler room, a toilet and a very large lounge-bar, spanning a surface area of approx. 80 m². On the lounge side, where an impressive white stone fireplace takes pride of place, one French window opens directly out on to the swimming pool area and another opens on to the front courtyard. On the bar side, everything is laid out like a bistro from the last century, the key feature being an extremely beautiful bar counter made by the company Nectoux. A stairway goes up to the bedrooms.
First floor
This level is divided into three sections. A first stairway goes to the television room; another, to a suite composed of a bedroom, with a wardrobe, and a shower room with a toilet; and the last one leads to a landing providing access to three bedrooms, with wardrobes, and a bathroom with a toilet.

The guest house

On one side, this building comprises a section spanning a surface area of approx. 65 m², laid out with an entrance hall, a study, a lounge, a bedroom with a wardrobe and a shower room with a toilet. The other side comprises a barn with a mezzanine.

The garden

With its independent gate, this garden is predominantly composed of building land and includes a heated swimming pool, spanning approx. 8x4 m, with its machine room, a toilet and a shower.
A little further away, a large covered terrace is laid out as a summer lounge and eating area.
A French bowls pitch and a little chalet.

Our opinion

Near to the French capital, this property is characteristic of the rural building heritage to be found in the local area. It is located near to places steeped in history such as Fourches Commandery, the oldest sanctuary of the Order of the Knights Templars in the Ile-de-France region, and of course, the town of Fontainebleau, with its palace, as well as “Cocteau’s chapel” in Milly-la-Forêt. The fact that the forest can be reached on foot could encourage the setting up of some kind of a hotel and catering activity.
The current owners have beautifully restored this property, whilst integrating modern-day home comforts.
