a mansion and its outbuildings
The property is located three hours from Paris by the A85 and A10 motorways and forty minutes from Tours and its TGV train station linking it with Paris in an hour.
The estate, at the gates of Montrésor, a village that was awarded the title of “favourite village” of the French people in 2015, is fifteen minutes from the medieval town of Loches and ten minutes from the Beauval Zoo, the biggest in Europe.
It benefits not only from the legendary gentle way of life of the Touraine, but also a particularly enviable location, in a place of absolute tranquillity since there are no surrounding buildings nearby.
In the middle of the estate, several reception buildings, a 19th century mansion, a private chapel dating back to the end of 11th century and redesigned in 19th century. The whole estate was renovated throughout in 1997.
Built in 19th century, of classic style with a slate hip roof, limestone and, in places, traditionally rendered facades. It is situated in the middle of its landscaped parkland.
Accessed via a porch way with six stone steps; the ground floor is raised by half a floor.
A large cellar and boiler room.
High 3.5 m ceilings throughout.
The parquet-floored entrance incorporating an oak staircase and a toilet leads in to a Henri III dining room featuring parquet flooring and marble fireplace, then follows a lounge also with parquet flooring and marble fireplace. A fitted kitchen with separate entrance and pantry complete the rooms on the ground floor.
A landing leads to two parquet-floored bedrooms, the east-facing bedroom is a through room, a bathroom and a toilet.
This floor with its slightly sloping ceilings includes three bedrooms, a shower room and a toilet.
The first outbuilding faces the mansion, it is a farmhouse-style house with slate roof. This building called “Le Chalet” has been entirely renovated and is used as a gite.
A large barn, a garage, technical room, a toilet and a large tiled living area with lounge and open-plan kitchen.
Three parquet-floored bedrooms, a shower room and a toilet.
One with a large reception room, toilets, a professional kitchen with fittings and fixtures (extraction hood, cooking range, stainless steel worktops and cupboards) and pantry; then another independent building with a large reception room, toilets and small professional kitchen with stainless steel units.
Originally built at the end of 11th century and redesigned in 19th century, it stands in the middle of the property with its slate-covered bell tower. Its door is a beautiful carved wooden ogive door crowned with a stained-glass rosette. Along the sides there are 6 stained-glass ogive windows. This consecrated chapel with its polychrome choir and gilded oak wood altar can accommodate a hundred people.
The landscaped parkland
The wooded and landscaped parkland of almost 7 hectares, comprises a number of different and varied tree species: several are over a hundred years old (cedars, oaks and redwood trees and a gigantic chestnut tree) Other trees and shrubs such as maple, pine and plane trees stand in the parkland above carpets of wild cyclamens and hydrangea beds.
The flower beds and lawns are watered courtesy of a well located on the grounds. In a separate part of the estate there is a large apple, pear, plum and cherry orchard.
The forest and lake
The estate comprises 13 hectares of oak and coniferous tree forest abounding in game. A long driveway crosses the land and leads from the road to the buildings and the entrance to the property.
The property also includes a 6500 m2 lake full of fish.
The estate is part of an area where nature prevails. The calm and quiet of this site create a sense of well-being, nothing disturbs the peaceful life here.
The property consists of several buildings all in good condition. Thanks to its reception rooms and its consecrated chapel, it may be used privately or for a business activity. The lay out of the estate, in itself, represents a huge potential (gites, marriages, events).
