On the top floor of a 17th century traditional mansion house,
a 96 m2 flat
Paris, PARIS paris 75006 FR

In one of the most sought-after and symbolic neighbourhoods of the French capital, rue Séguier situated near Saint-Germain des Près and a stone’s throw away from the river Seine. The street begins at Quai des Grands-Augustins and goes as far as the rue Saint-André des Arts. Once called rue Pavée, it now bears the name of Pierre Séguier (1588-1672), French chancellor, whose family lived in this street for several centuries.
It is very well connected by public transport.

The property is located in a former 17th century mansion house whose facades and roofs have Historic Monument status. The main facade is listed. It has a carriage gate entrance with intercom system. The courtyard is paved and on each side of the building’s wings, entrances lead to the upper floors. Access to the floors is secured by a digital door code. The flat is on the second floor, and the only one on this floor. It comprises an entrance, dining room, lounge, bedroom (possibility of a second bedroom), a toilet and washbasin, study, laundry room and kitchen. Beautiful high ceilings (between 3.20 m and 3.50 m), parquet flooring, fireplaces and it is luminous and quiet. Some renovation works are necessary.

The flat

Located on the second floor and the only flat on this floor, it opens into a very luminous entrance hall thanks to a large window with a view of the Saint-Chapelle steeple in the sky. This area has old hexagonal terracotta floor tiles. The flat is L-shaped.
On one side of the entrance, the bedroom with wardrobe, small bathroom with washbasin and adjoining toilet. There is elegant parquet flooring “à la francaise”. The room is illuminated by two large windows, from where one can admire the Seine and Ile de la Cité.
On the other, the dining room with a large window and interior shutters. Double-leaf doors provide access to the lounge, featuring a red and white veined-marble fireplace. It is topped with a trumeau. Two large windows illuminate this area. The reception rooms have herringbone parquet flooring. A door opens from the dining room into a bathroom with toilet, then a study, laundry area and kitchen with a window overlooking a small interior courtyard. The rooms are spacious with beautiful high ceilings and offer plenty of storage space. The flat layout is adaptable and a second bedroom could easily be made.

Our opinion

It is a well-chosen piece of Parisian architecture. It attracts much interest due to the prestigious indeed aristocratic character of the site. To be able to contemplate the Saint-Chapelle steeple clearly in the sky on entering this property and with a view over the Seine from the bedroom window, is a remarkable privilege and worthy of note.
