This street, created in 1640 on land belonging to Saint-Germain-des-Près Abbey, gets its name from Duke Henri-de-Bourbon-Verneuil. It is near to the embankments along the Seine, Rue-du-Bac and Boulevard-Saint-Germain, in one of the Left Bank’s most distinguished districts. Rue-de-Verneuil, itself, is highly sought-after courtesy of the residents that chose it, its history, the proximity of Orsay Museum, ministries and prestigious schools. It is in the midst of the Left Bank Square district, famous for its art galleries and its antique dealers.


The carriage gates of the superb, 19th century, dressed stone building are fitted with a numeric keypad security system and a caretaker keeps an eye on the premises. Once through the gates, at the end of the paved courtyard, a second entrance, also fitted with a numerical keypad security system, provides access to the floors. This flat is on the third floor. The door opens into an entrance lobby, with a cupboard, which leads right to a lounge, with a fireplace topped with a trumeau mirror. This west-facing room is illuminated via two windows featuring wrought iron railings. On the left-hand side of the lobby is a bedroom, overlooking a small courtyard. It is enhanced with an original, old, white ceramic wood-burning stove. An alcove set at an angle in a corner forms a decorative feature. The window in the kitchen and that in the shower room, with its toilet, overlook a second little courtyard. The rooms have built in cupboards. This quiet flat comes with a cellar.

Our opinion

The feeling of well-being, immediately obvious on entering the entrance passage way, with its moulded walls and ceiling as well as its cement floor tiles, increases once the paved courtyard has been crossed. Finding such peace and quiet, in this lively and yet aristocratic district is extremely fortunate. New owners will have no worries other than how they wish to reorganise this space, invaluable in all respects.
