In the last quarter of the 19th century, Montretout, just like Saint-Cloud, lost much of its rural character. The large properties on the plateau were divided up and progressively gave way to new constructions. The district quickly gained in value. Large buildings were then constructed along the Boulevard-de-Versailles (now Boulevard-de-la-République) which had once been dotted with small boarding houses where numerous travellers stayed. Large villas, lived in by wealthy families in the spring and autumn, appeared on the plateau itself.
This garden flat is ideally located just a stone’s throw from an SNCF train station with 15-minute links to Paris-Saint-Lazare, passing via La-Défense. A day nursery, infant and secondary schools as well as sixth form colleges and shops are all nearby.

There are no nuisances to disturb the garden’s peace and quiet.

The garden

This south-facing garden, spanning a surface area of 87 m², is entirely enclosed by tall, black railings. These conceal the street and keep any possible nuisances at bay. The wooden terrace is but an invitation to settle down in the shade of the trees during clement weather. The dense, evergreen foliage remains colourful and decorative all year round.

Our opinion

A garden in Paris, or in one of the towns surrounding the French capital, completely changes a way of living. This one has the originality of doubling the flat’s floor surface area. The large room looks widely out over its evergreen foliage which is not only decorative but also provides privacy, winter and summer alike. After having completed all their errands in the district on foot, any family living here will want to rush back to this verdant haven.
