An estate with more than 5 ha and the former outbuildings of a chateau,
no longer in existence, 30 minutes from Vannes in the Morbihan countryside
Vannes, MORBIHAN brittany 56000 FR

This estate, in the French department of Morbihan, 30 minutes from Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan, is near to a small commune with a thousand inhabitants, in undulating surroundings comprising woods and farmland. All schools and amenities are less than 10 minutes away.

This property is set in the midst of a wooded sector, surrounded by farmland. It is reached via a long, almost exclusive country lane which reveals the estate, with the former outbuildings of a chateau, no longer in existence. Once through the gates, alleyways crisscross the property leading to its strategic points. Facing the main courtyard, a vast garden precedes a tennis court on the south side. In the immediate vicinity of the buildings are a swimming pool, a garage, an aviary and miscellaneous sheds.

The buildings

These buildings, once the stables of a chateau that is no longer in existence, date from the late 19th century. Facing east-west and constructed from local stone under a slate roof, with a pavilion roof on the north side, they are laid out in an H-shape over two levels and set out around a main paved courtyard on the east side and a terrace on the west side.

Ground floor
The entrance hall provides access to a 50 m² lounge, a vast, 85 m² dining room and a kitchen with its back kitchen. A corridor leads to a library and to a study. Following on from the dining room, is another 90 m² room, divided into three areas. Three hall areas, two storage areas, a boiler room and two toilets complete this floor. On the north side of the 250 m² main courtyard are the old garages, where carriages were once stored. They span approx. 50 m².
First floor
Two landings provide access to nine bedrooms, four bathrooms, a corridor, miscellaneous storage and hall areas. A belvedere houses an additional bedroom.
A garage/carport spanning 36 m².
A 55 m² barn on the north side of the main courtyard.
Wood store
A woodshed-storage area spanning approx. 35 m² on the west side.
The swiming pool
A 12x5 m covered swimming pool.
Technical room for the pool
A room spanning approx. 12 m².

Our opinion

With their wings, their hanging roof dormers and, on a corner, a pavilion roof which appears reminiscent of a tower, these outbuildings are the worthy heirs of a chateau, no longer in existence. The interior is vast and in a good state of repair. It could easily house a family way of life at the same time as some form of a hotel and catering activity without one disturbing the other. Everyone will appreciate the tranquillity of the property.
