The large, beautiful town of Rouen is nearby. The French capital is just over a hundred kilometres away and the sea is but half of that distance. A renowned golf course and a horse-riding club are in the immediate vicinity of the chateau.


In the peace and quiet of a little Normandy village, the location of this property, at the end of its forest path, is almost secluded. The chateau is slightly raised in relation to the neighbouring forest.
Wrought iron gates between brick pillars provide access to a main courtyard, at the end of which is the Louis XIII style chateau. It is surrounded by parklands, planted with trees, that also include rural buildings and a caretaker’s cottage. Horses and ponies graze on pastureland extending on either side of the main courtyard.

The chateau

The main building is a small Louis XIII style chateau with a slate roof. St-Jean brick was used for the facade, the windows have small panes. On either side, a caretaker’s cottage, spanning 3 levels, which could be renovated and an outbuilding comprising two garages and horse loose boxes. All the buildings are set in verdant surroundings.

Ground floor
The entrance hall houses a stairway with Louis XIII style railings and steps covered with terracotta floor tiles. A large kitchen, on the left-hand side, was designed by the company Ariche. Opening on to a terrace on the south side, it adjoins a back kitchen. On the right-hand side are a living room-lounge, adorned with a fireplace and panelling, and a billiards’ room, with a fireplace. A dressing room and a toilet open on to the vestibule.
First floor
This level comprises five bedrooms, one of which has a bathroom and a dressing room, a bathroom, a shower room, a toilet and dressing rooms.
Second floor
The second floor includes a games room, spanning approx. 100 m² with a bar, and an attic which could be converted.
This garage can accommodate two cars. It is topped with an attic.
A large vaulted cellar.
Caretaker’s accommodation
This building, spanning three levels, has rendered facades and a slate roof. The ground floor comprises two rooms, currently in use as offices, and a toilet. The first floor awaits renovation. The attic space could be converted.
The stables
These stables can accommodate 2-3 horses.

Our opinion

Normandy enjoys the Louis XIII style, an elegant outlet for his liking for brick. Here, the profile and contour includes large openings aligned like soldiers on parade. The chateau has no need to be vast to be impressive. And there is nothing more enviable than living in a building of this class, almost in the middle of a forest, just a few minutes from a large, magnificent town such as Rouen. Especially when recent works ensure that there are no unpleasant surprises in store for the new owners.
