A very comfortable, 18th century chateau in some 35 ha of wooded parklands,
with a vegetable garden, in the south-east of the Ile-de-France region
Melun, SEINE-ET-MARNE ile-de-france 77000 FR

Location

This estate, 85 km from Paris and 31 km from Melun, is in the midst of the rural area of Brie but the main communication routes around the periphery of the Greater Paris Area and the Ile-de-France region (A104, A6 and A5 motorways), a 45-minute journey, make it possible to reach all regions of France and the European countries beyond. Similarly, Orly and Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle international airports are respectively 60 and 80 minutes away. The entire property is set in a large forest, part of which has additional protection courtesy of its classification as a Natura 2000 area. Its wealth of biodiversity is much appreciated by both migrant and non-migrant species.

Description

This estate spans a total surface area of 35 ha of parklands and woods. A vegetable garden completes the property. The 18th century chateau, surrounded by its outbuildings has undergone restoration and renovation works which have created a first-class and extremely comfortable residence, ideal for a hotel and catering activity.
This property also includes tennis courts and a heliport.

Ground floor
The main doors open into a large vestibule, housing a central billiards’ table. It is enhanced with floor tiles featuring inlaid decoration, a monumental stone fireplace and, on the right-hand side, the main stairway with its superb wrought iron railings.
It initially provides access, on the left-hand side, to a large lounge, with floor-to-ceiling oak wood, moulded panelling as well as a pink marble fireplace facing a bookshelf unit, also made of oak wood. This is followed by a dining room, with similar floor tiles to those of the vestibule. It is decorated with a marble fireplace and outstanding wallpaper produced by the French Zuber factory. Across a small vestibule is a particularly warm and welcoming, Churchillian style lounge with floor-to-ceiling oak wood panelling, a moulded, red marble fireplace and wooden shutters. This room simply exudes the atmosphere of an English gentleman’s club; it even has a bar. After the lounge is a kitchen with its old-fashioned terracotta floor tiles.
Immediately on the right-hand side of the large vestibule, an impressive lounge, with Versailles pattern parquet flooring, has a white marble and brick fireplace with a trumeau, topped with a painted medallion featuring a little Cupid. Carved wall panels and moulding contribute to the elegance of this room.
The low wing set at right angles comprises a flat currently used by staff to relax. It includes a study, a rest room, a dressing room, a shower room and a toilet as well as a small lounge and a kitchen area.

First floor
The “Parc” bedroom has oak wood, herringbone-Versailles pattern parquet flooring, a dressing room, a bathroom with a shower, a spa bath and floor tiles featuring inlaid decoration, as well as a toilet.
The “Mozart” bedroom has oak wood parquet flooring, its own bathroom and toilet as well as a safe.
The “Bord de l’eau” bedroom is enhanced with Versailles pattern parquet flooring and a marble fireplace. Its bathroom contains a spa bath and a toilet.
The following bedroom is called “Voyage”. It has strip pattern parquet flooring and a bathroom with a spa bath.
The “Romantique” bedroom has similar flooring and the same type of bathroom but with a toilet.
The sixth bedroom goes by the name of “Rose”. It has a bathroom with a spa bath as well as a toilet.
The two “Boudoir”, adjoining single bedrooms, each have their own bathroom and toilet.
The last “Empire” bedroom has a sauna in its bathroom as well as a toilet.

Cellar
This vast area comprises a comfortable projection room, a large, gravelled and vaulted cellar with ideal conditions for laying down wine, a linen room, a safe, a cold room and a utility room.

Our opinion

Paris is not far away and it is quite simple to get here from neighbouring European countries courtesy of several motorways. Set in parklands, in the midst of such natural surroundings (the estate is encircled by forest and woods), the 18th century chateau does not just exude the elegance of the Age of Reason, it has also been made so comfortable, and with such taste, that staying on the estate is a pleasure. The 400 and 200 m² barns offer great potential. The tranquillity is broken but by birdsong and the belling of distant red deer.
