In a region famous for its Bandol wines, Le-Beausset is a lively village, near to the medieval village of Castellet, much visited by tourists. Marignane airport is an hour away, that of Hyères just 50 minutes away, as are the towns of Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. The motorway can be reached in 10 minutes. A TGV train station is 20 minutes away, as is Toulon. By car it takes but 20 minutes to get to the beach and 5 minutes to reach the shops.
The traditional Mas house
Ideally located in the midst of its grounds, the old building has been enhanced with an extension comprising a bedroom, with a bathroom and dressing room, which opens on to a lounge with a closed atrium. A closed garage on the west side adjoins the house and a large carport has also been added.
The house is entered on the south side via a plant-covered, wrought iron arbour. The entrance hall comprises a section in use as a dining area, opening on the west side into a large kitchen.
A back kitchen-laundry room provides access to a bedroom with a wash-hand basin. This bedroom opens directly on to the outside. A fireplace separates the dining area from the lounge, where a stairway goes upstairs. In the centre of the house, a lounge-patio with a glass roof provides access to a bedroom with a shower room, a toilet and a dressing room. The floors are covered with old terracotta tiles and some ceilings feature exposed beams.
The stairway goes up to a mezzanine in use as a study, looking down on to the lounge. Three bedrooms, a separate toilet and a large bathroom, with a shower, complete this level. There is parquet flooring throughout.
This old, traditional, well-built Mas house features thick walls which keep the inside of the house cool, much appreciated in the summer. Cool outside as well, with a little breeze under the shady arbour and the trees, making any stay extremely pleasant. The varying size of the buildings is of great interest and the extension will be appreciated by those seeking to live all on a level or it could provide a rental income.
