This property stands, looking down on a valley, in a 2-house hamlet, 8 km from Magny-en-Vexin. It can be reached via main roads, such as the A15 motorway and the N14, which also make it possible to get to Cergy-Pontoise (35 km), Paris (85 km) and the Normandy beaches (110 km).


This old farm dominates the plains and forests so well that the panoramic view extends as far as the famous Montjavoult church.
A country lane goes up to this property which, in the midst of vast grassy grounds, comprises a main house, a guest house, a garage as well as three stone outbuildings.

The main house

This construction, facing the valley, is typical of the region. It is built of limestone directly on solid ground and topped with a small flat tile roof. The north facade has no windows whilst those facing south-west look out over the valley and let in copious amounts of daylight.

Ground floor
The living room, on the other side of the front door, is enhanced with a stone and brick fireplace. Its red terracotta tile floor shines with the patina of time. A small kitchen, on the left-hand side, awaits restoration. Its floor is a continuation of that in the living room. An oak wood door on the right-hand side opens into a lounge with a terracotta tile floor. Its fireplace was constructed by the grandfather of the current owner using stone from the garden. On the other side of the lounge, a hall area provides access to a shower room and separate toilet as well as the boiler room.
First floor
Upstairs, a vast mezzanine area provides access to a bedroom at each end. One bedroom has its own bathroom and a terrace looking out over the valley. The second bedroom has direct access from the garden via an outside stone stairway. Two separate trapdoors provide access to the attic space which could be converted as the ridge of the roof is 2.5 m high.
The garden
The somewhat wild-looking garden matches its surroundings. It comprises a meadow bordered by low stone walls and a wooded section which, already in existence, has been expanded by the plantation of miscellaneous noble species of trees. The roots of a tree in a corner of the copse conceal an old cave. Just a short distance away, stone hillocks, scrupulously arranged, are the vestiges of old buildings. Similarly, an alleyway bordered by trees reveals a previous entrance.
Two stone buildings with packed mud floors, currently used for storage purposes, stand behind the house. A stone garage, with a small flat tile roof, can be entered via double doors and a pedestrian door. A stone outbuilding, with a small flat tile roof, set below the property on building land is full of potential.
Guest house
This guest house, near to the main house, was entirely constructed from the same materials as the other buildings on the property. It stands over a vaulted cellar, at the end of which is an old bread oven. The ground floor comprises a main room, extended by a bathroom. The upstairs can only be reached via a ladder set near to an opening in the wooden ceiling or next to a door in the gable wall of the house.

Our opinion

Paris is not far away. And yet, the French Vexin region appears to be free of all nuisances. The landscape resembles moorland or a vast garden stretching to the distant horizons. The house and its annex buildings blend in with it as if the stone, from which they are constructed, had been there for all eternity. Such harmony exudes great serenity.
