This property is in the midst of the Touraine region, renowned for its architectural, historic, cultural and gastronomic heritage, three hours from Paris via the A10 motorway, 30 minutes from Tours and its TGV train station with 60-minute links to the French capital, in rural, nuisance-free surroundings between Tours and Loches.
A little lane leads to a 13th century porch way which provides access to an interior courtyard, lined with buildings.

Description

This manor house and its outbuildings, resembling an old fortified farmstead, form the square enclosure of a central courtyard. The manor house, comprising a ground floor, a first floor and an attic that could be converted, awaits full renovation works inside. The left wing is a large outbuilding that has been transformed into a holiday rental unit for accommodating groups. It is in need of some attention. The right wing houses a function room and a kitchen, also in need of attention. There are several other outbuildings (some barns and miscellaneous buildings) which await renovation works inside and out.

The manor house

This impressive manor house stands to the right of the entrance porch way. It is predominantly constructed from quarry stone blocks and freestone, topped with slate. It faces the inner courtyard on one side and a lawn area on the other.


Ground floor
The ground floor comprises an old kitchen, with old cement floor tiles, a boiler room, an old dining room and another large room that could be used as a lounge, both feature floor tiles. There is also a toilet. Major renovation works are required on the inside (electric wiring, plumbing, wall coverings, woodwork, etc.).
First floor
A hall area provides access to five bedrooms with parquet flooring; four of them have their own shower room. These are followed by another room, awaiting conversion, which is linked to the kitchen via a back stairway. This first floor also awaits full renovation works.
Attic
The top floor is actually an attic which features an inverted hull shaped roofing framework. It could easily be converted into additional bedrooms.

The outbuildings

The outbuildings are built at right angles on either side of the manor house. The one on the left-hand side has been converted into holiday rental accommodation whilst the one on the right-hand side is a large function room.


Outbuilding
A first outbuilding has been converted for accommodating groups.
It comprises a living room, a kitchen, two separate toilets with wash-hand basins and a reception room on the ground floor. The floors are tiled and the walls painted. The first floor is divided into fourteen bedrooms with parquet flooring, each with its own shower room and toilet. The electric wiring is in line with current day standards so only minor decoration works are required.

Reception building
The building forming the right-hand wing houses a large function room, featuring floor tiles, and a fitted kitchen.
Barn
This barn, once in use as a dormitory, is now in need of full renovation works.
The garden
The inner courtyard is laid to lawn. A wooded garden set out around the buildings also features a small pond.

Our opinion

The architecture does not lie, these buildings are very old. The triangular arches forming the entrance to the courtyard are mysterious vestiges that encourage residents to find out more. The appeal and size of the manor house and its outbuildings give the impression that they were intended for some kind of a hotel and catering activity, especially as this region is of great cultural interest. The continuing of such a business here will require works which will easily repay the new owners, given the charm exuded by the old stone combined with that of the peace and quiet!
