Location

This villa nestles in a sector named after the Notre-Dame-de-Vie chapel standing on the hills behind Cannes. The view extends from the medieval town of Mougins through to the Alps. Description

Constructed relatively recently, its extremely angular design is somewhat reminiscent of Le-Corbusier. In the garden, long, rectilinear, low stone walls delimit the gently sloping terracing.
A small, detached house is connected to the main residence by a thick-beamed trellis which is of interest not only because of its visual effect but also because of the shade it provides.

The villa

The garden level of this spacious villa comprises the reception rooms which, with their wide picture windows, appear to let the beautiful scenery right into the house. The fitted kitchen adjoins the dining room. A small study on the opposite side enjoys an extremely pleasant view.

The garden
This garden spans more than 4,500 m². Delimited below by the Siagne Canal, it surrounds the buildings with greenery. The slight terracing is separated by low stone walls, laid out in straight lines to reflect the architectural style of the house. It abounds in olive and fruit trees. A wonderful, large, tiled swimming pool stretches out in front of the lounge. One unusual feature is that the stone pool-house is listed.

Our opinion

There is a kind of perfection in this villa, running throughout its layout and the balanced organisation of its rooms. The sharpness of its lines is continued into the garden through its subtle terracing and elegant pathways. The plans of this house resemble those for the constructions of great architects such as Mallet-Stevens. With its fantastic view stretching as far as the Alps and its superb setting, there is no reason to question the intermingling of the inside with the outside. Townhouse or house in the country? Near to both Cannes and Valmasque woods, this villa is above such classifications.
