Near to the “perched” village of Gordes, known the world over, where a first castle was constructed as of the 11th century, and whose actual appearance predominantly dates from the Renaissance era. It was in the 17th & 18th centuries, as well as in the first half of the 20th century that Gordes experienced its golden age, with numerous mills, craftsmanship and commerce, and houses built as far as the Veroncle and Sénancole valleys, where the beautiful gem of Cistercian art, Sénanque abbey, takes pride of place. This property stands near to the Sénancole valley. In the midst of a little steep hamlet, the view over the Luberon mountains is unobstructed.

Description

The plot of land, spanning approx. 2,700 m², was completely landscaped and redesigned by a famous local landscape gardener and is now laid out in tiered terraces, almost entirely enclosed by low, dry-stone walls. It is predominantly planted with olive and cypress trees. The swimming pool and its pool-house have been installed on the heights between the laurel bushes and the olive trees, with an outstanding point of view over the Luberon mountains. The olive trees are sufficient in number to produce some forty litres of oil every year.
In an excellent state of repair, this property is, itself, laid out in three traditionally-built, dry-stone sections like a little hamlet, restored and constructed between 1980 and 2015. The view over the Luberon mountains is omnipresent.

The second building is now a vast, very bright library-workshop, spanning approx. 60 m², with a mezzanine and a shower room. The inside could be reconverted to suit requirements. It opens on to a terrace which communicates with the kitchen.
And finally, the last section of the property is composed of two independent bedrooms, each with a bath and shower room, opening on to the entrance area and the garden, planted with cypress trees as well as laurel and lavender bushes.
A paved terrace runs alongside the buildings. A covered car parking area is housed under one section of the terrace.

This property is the ideal place to live safely, in the peace and quiet, amidst natural surroundings, without being isolated. Contemplation of the landscapes and the sky, the ever-changing colours and light, the fragrances of the pine and cypress trees, the rosemary, lavender and star jasmine bushes as well as the birdsong will delight all those seeking relaxation, whether on holiday or working from home. Here, every season has its own special beauty. The range of cultural activities available, summer and winter alike, is of great interest in Avignon and in nearby villages as well as in Aix-en-Provence.
