Location

Feucherolles’ coat-of-arms is a composition of that of the Briçonnet family and that of the La-Salle family, both having been lords of the place in the 16th and 17th centuries. The town of Feucherolles is in the north-east of the French department of Yvelines, in the midst of Versailles’ plain. It is surrounded by Marly and Alluets forests, near to the famous Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche golf course and well-known horse riding centres. The nearest train stations are Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, 4 km away with trains to Paris-Saint-Lazare going via La-Défense, and Plaisir-Grignon station on the Paris-Montparnasse line, going via Versailles-Chantiers. Feucherolles has good primary and secondary schools. The sixth form colleges are in Marly-le-Roi and St-Germain-en-Laye (including the Lycée International). There is a school bus service. Numerous cycle tracks make it possible to ride peacefully, notably through Marly Forest.

Description

This house stands in a residential district on the Saint-Gemme plateau. A recent construction, it is vast, bright and welcoming, with a total floor surface area of 180 m². Its walled, 427 m² garden, with a terrace, faces south.
A large entrance hall provides access to an L-shaped living room, with an open-plan, fully fitted kitchen. This through room, steeped in light, has direct access to the garden via wide picture windows. A guest toilet is also installed on the ground floor. The stairway leading upstairs is made of stone-coloured Tavel marble. The first floor comprises three bedrooms, two of which are large, as well as a shower room and separate toilet. The master bedroom is followed by a vast dressing room and a bathroom with a lion’s claw bath tub. The through landing is illuminated via a window looking out from the facade and via a wide picture window opening on to a balcony that looks down on the garden. On the second floor, a vast, bright floor surface area, already converted and spanning 45 m², could be joined by an additional two bedrooms. The 70 m² basement includes a boiler room, a laundry room and a wine cellar. The garage can be reached via the basement on the inside or via the garden on the outside.

The house

This recent, vast, grey and white house, with a slate gable roof, wrought iron gates and grey-painted shutters, is characterised by its plain, refined lines. The front door is protected by a canopy, reiterating the 1930’s. Fragrant wisteria grows alongside the gates. Verdant gardens stretch in front of and behind this house, set in its peaceful surroundings.


Ground floor
A large entrance hall, with an artist’s workshop style glazed door, provides access to the living room. Stone-coloured floor tiles create unity throughout the rooms. The Tavel marble stairway, with wrought iron railings and geometric forms, leads upstairs. Light floods into the through living room via two large picture windows that open on to the south-facing garden. A stone fireplace is a major decorative feature. The open-plan kitchen also has a door leading out to the garden. Quality materials and a rustic style bestow this property, near to Paris, with the charm of a country house.
First floor
The through landing is vast and able to accommodate a study area with a view of the garden. It provides access to a south-facing, master bedroom. The adjoining bathroom, with a toilet, exudes an air of the 1930’s with two wash-hand basins and a lion’s claw bath tub. One room is laid out as a dressing room. This level also includes another two large bedrooms, a shower room with an Italian style shower and a separate toilet.
Second floor
A floor surface area of 45 m², illuminated via two large skylights, is already used as a bedroom. Its luminosity and good roof insulation make it possible to envisage the creation of another two rooms.
Basement
The basement, spanning a floor surface area of 70 m², is divided into several rooms including a boiler room, a laundry room and a wine cellar. Very well insulated, it also has a large storage area.
The garden
The walled, 427 m² garden takes up most of the 537 m² plot of land and is planted with all kinds of species. Facing south, the sun takes pride of place all through the day. A terrace, paved with stone, is the ideal place to take meals under a sunshade. A little greenhouse, with its vegetable garden, is concealed at the end of the garden. The peace reigning here is disturbed but by birdsong and the wind in the trees.

Our opinion

This recently constructed, large house has traditional architectural features and, therefore, blends beautifully into the old village of Feucherolles. Its garden and the proximity of large forests bring natural surroundings right up to its doors. The residential Saint-Gemme plateau is but 30 minutes from the French capital. It is one of those places where residents have everything.
