This manor house is in a little commune in the west of Morbihan, about 30 minutes from road and rail routes, Paris can be reached in less than 3 hours, as well from Lorient-Bretagne-Sud airport (previously Lorient-Lann-Bihoué airport). The surroundings abound in hiking and cross-country cycling trails, making it possible to explore the region’s architectural (chapels, fountains, etc.) and natural riches.

Description

This property begins with a 300 m long alleyway, a turning off the road, leading between the trees to tall gates which form the actual entrance to the estate. It is possible to see the east side of the manor house, surrounded by a few outbuildings on the north side and the gardens all around. This estate acts like a wooded haven, protecting its central residence.

The manor house

This manor house was constructed as of the 19th century in two stages, the southern section being the oldest. It spans two levels under attic space that could be converted and spans close to 400 m². The south facade of the 1900’s section is topped with two tall pavilion roofs, featuring roof dormers with hanging windows and tall chimney stacks. The east wing, set at right angles, is topped with a gable roof, giving the section dating from the mid 1900’s a more classical look.


Ground floor
A through entrance hall provides access to a dining room and a kitchen as well as a 43 m² room. The latter precedes a living room and a lounge, spanning approx. 60 m². All the lounges have parquet flooring.
First floor
The first floor can be reached via two stairways. The main stairway is in the entrance hall and the second stairway is in the tower on the south-west side. This level comprises five bedrooms, a study, two shower rooms and two toilets. There is parquet flooring throughout.
Second floor
This level comprises two bedrooms, a toilet and an attic.
Attic
The attic space includes three separate areas all in the section dating from the 1900’s.
Cellar
The basement has four cellars.
Open barn
Two farm sheds, each spanning 30 m², are on the north side.
Garage
Two sheds on the north side and adjoining the manor house span respective floor surface areas of 10 and 5 m².
Garden shed
The two garden sheds span 10 and 5 m².

The outbuildings

Several huts, farm sheds and storage areas constitute the outbuildings, predominantly laid out on the north side.

Our opinion

This 19th century manor house has two sections, one demonstrating pretentious stylistic features, the other, more sober, resembling a middle-class home. As a whole, it exudes unity and elegance. Behind the necessary renovations are all the advantages to be gained from such premises. For example, a hotel and catering activity would in no way disturb the private life of its new residents. Set in the peaceful Morbihan countryside, this superb building is but waiting for a new way of life.
