In a little sleepy hamlet, 90 km from the French capital via the N4, the Francilienne ring road and the A4 motorway in 1½ hours, close enough to Provins to go by bike or even on foot.
Provins SNCF train station has direct links to Paris-Gare-de-l'Est.


Poetic parklands, with ornamental pools fed by three natural springs, comprising cool areas enhanced with the sound of babbling water.
The property is entered via remote-controlled gates, opening on to a shady, tree-lined drive. A lake sparkles through emerald ferns, then, the manor house comes into view at the end of the garden, linked by a veranda to an artist’s studio set at right angles.

The manor house

This residence, with origins dating back to the 12th century, was redesigned in the 18th and 19th centuries, resulting in its current appearance with its watch turret and its ochre-coloured rendered facade. The slate roof is in a good state of repair. This reasonably-sized manor house spans three levels.
An old outbuilding set at right angles has been transformed into an artist’s studio. The owners also had the idea of connecting the buildings via a veranda which acts as a conservatory.

Ground floor
A porch, with a few steps, leads to the front door which opens into a small, cosy hall, with cement floor tiles. A toilet and a wash-hand basin can be glimpsed under a stairway. A lounge has herringbone pattern parquet flooring and a wrought, pastel-coloured ceiling, featuring a stucco rose. A brown-coloured marble fireplace enhances the room. A dining room, with herringbone pattern parquet flooring, has a white marble fireplace and a pale blue, green and pink ceiling rose. A tiled bathroom is fitted with a whirlpool bath and a toilet.
A corridor set at right angles leads to a vast veranda. An open-plan kitchen, with an eating area, has been laid out in this bright conservatory, a convivial place with a view of the manor house and the parklands. The adjoining artist’s studio, once an outbuilding, is therefore linked to the main house by this luminous area.

First floor
A landing room, extended by a corridor leading to a laundry room, is also in use as a dressing room. A bedroom is enhanced by a small balcony featuring very finely wrought, iron railings. A shower room, with two wash-hand basins and a shower, also has a small balcony, this one protected by stone balusters. Another bedroom has strip pattern parquet flooring and a balcony identical to the first one, whilst a third bedroom has an adjoining room, set between the corridor and the bedroom (a study or master suite). A toilet has been installed in the turret.
Second floor
This level comprises a landing and three bedrooms. An adjoining room, as on the first floor, could become a study or part of a master suite. It also includes a shower room and an attic (storage area).

The garage

A 40 m² garage, with a remote-controlled door, is laid out below the artist’s studio.

The caretaker’s cottage

This cottage spans two levels:
The ground floor includes a 70 m² workshop-garage, an open-plan kitchen adjoining a 14 m² dining room, a bathroom and a toilet.
The upstairs comprises two bedrooms respectively spanning 12 and 13 m².

The cellars

Three cellars are laid out under the terrace.

The swimming pool

Our opinion

Ideally located in the countryside, near to one of the Brie region’s most emblematic towns, within easy reach of Paris, this property exudes the almost magical quality of making time appear to stand still. This manor house, bearing the mark of the ages from the 12th through to the 19th century, is extended in the most natural way possible by a sort of very bright conservatory, leading to an artist’s studio, set in an old outbuilding. Everything is harmonious, simple and comfortable. This property will appeal to all enthusiasts of comfortable tranquillity whether they are wanting to work in the peace and quiet or just take a break. The size of the grounds (3.5 ha) is also perfectly suited to this type of lifestyle.
