The residence

The lower sections and facades are composed of successive rows of stone and flint, topped with Vernon stone. Quoins enhance the corners and half-hipped dormers the roof. Inside, panelling and exposed ceiling beams clearly reflect the Norman style, now updated. French windows make it easy to move between the inside and the outside.

Ground floor
The floor on this level is covered with large flagstones. The entrance hall, facing a left-turning stairway, provides access, left, to a vast lounge, featuring exposed beams in a cathedral ceiling, a monumental fireplace and a mezzanine, as well as to a bedroom, a study, a shower room and a toilet.
On the right-hand side is a large kitchen where a central unit is topped with a Corian work surface.
Heating is provided by glass storage heaters.
The openings feature double-glazed, burglar-proof panes, protected by indoor wooden shutters.

First floor
The floor is covered throughout with sisal matting. The mezzanine, protected by a guardrail made of wood and safety glass, looks down on to the lounge. The rest of this level is taken up by three bedrooms and a bath-shower room.

The outbuilding

This building comprises a 2-car garage and a workshop.

Our opinion

No noise and the valley below, not forgetting the deer that, appreciating the peace and quiet, come to drink in the trout river bordering the parklands. Such is the natural setting, providing a complete change of scenery, for this house constructed using traditional methods. And yet, everything required by modern-day life is but a short car drive away.
