Set in the historic centre of Beaune, this flat is 10 minutes from slip roads for the A6 motorway, a crossroads providing links to Paris or Geneva in 2½ hours and Lyon airport in 1½ hours. The train station is just a 10-minute walk, as are numerous food shops, markets, restaurants and hotels. Beaune aerodrome, a 15-minute drive away, is open to civil aircraft. The town, in the heart of the “Climates of Burgundy” (Burgundy vineyards), classified on the UNESCO World Heritage List, acts as the Burgundy wine capital. Three steps go up into the building’s vestibule, with exposed Burgundy stone block walls and a travertine floor. Winding around its stairwell, a stone stairway, embellished with refined, wrought iron railings topped with a wooden handrail, goes upstairs.

An elegantly sober, wooden stairway is housed in the lounge, in the corner opposite the entrance door. It goes up to a large mezzanine, under curved and pinned beams, where the view looks down on to the living room and out through two roof dormers over the interior courtyard. Access to a bedroom, with parquet flooring and a central curved beam, illuminated via a round roof dormer. An open passageway leads to a shower room, with a toilet, a single vanity unit, a mirror as well as travertine wall and floor tiles. On the interior courtyard side, a roof dormer with a view over the rooftops.

Our opinion

The architecture of this property blends superbly with the centre of town Once through the front door of the flat, its size, the height of its ceiling and its unusual roofing framework enhance the feeling of space. Opening the windows, residents can lean against elegant, scrolled railings and take advantage of the unique view over the town’s elegant architectural heritage, a spectacle all on its own. There is no doubt that this haven manifests a feeling of timelessness, a deep serenity and the certainty of well-being. Another way of living the “pro remedia remedio animae” (salvation of souls). Purchasing a property in Beaune is a sound investment and its rental income is guaranteed.
